Toddler Classroom At The Children's Ministry

When I entered the toddler classroom at the Children’s ministry, the first detail that I noticed was the great effort for security and protection for every child that was dropped off. Every individual in the classroom were required to wear badges to indicate that they were safe to work with the children. Once I walked into the main room where the children were being cared for I noticed that there were a great verity of temperaments displayed by the children. Some children appeared to be “easy” (not crying or being fussy), and were playing with the toys. Most of the children seemed to be “slow to warm up” in which they seemed hesitate to come into the room, and possibly would cry for a short period of time, however once a care giving picked the child up, and showed them a raddle or some sort of toy they seemed to calm down and become distracted from the fact that they were uncomfortable. …show more content…

For example, there were a set of twins in which one twin (Child B) in particular seemed to be very fussy and emotional. Since they were standing right in front of me, I handed them a bouncy ball in order to provide comfort and calm her down. When I handed Child B the ball and she seemed to become slightly calmed this reminded me of DRDP ATL-REG 2 in which Child B as able to self-soothe as they were experiencing distress. I noticed that Child B seemed to have liked the bouncy balls in which they were trying to gather more together. Although they were still crying at times, I noticed that she seemed to have become self-soothed as she was playing with the bouncy balls. Child C was a child in which it was their first time visiting the room, and seemed to have been very uncomfortable as they cried upon entry. However as time passed, Child C did not appear to need the support and direct attention like the other children who continued to cry, which is related to DRDP ATL-REG 4 in which they became “less reliant on the
