Being the farthest planet has made it difficult to study Pluto, Adding to the obscurity of this strange planet is that the capability to send spacecraft such distances has never been achieved. Through the wonders of science and astronomy, there are many things that can be determined, concluded, and hypothesized about this obscure planet. Pluto’s discovery was actually a fortunate accident. Clyde Tombaugh was searching for a ninth planet to explain inconsistencies in the orbits of Neptune and Uranus. Once further research was done regarding Pluto it was determined that the size of Pluto was too small to account for the irregularities of the orbits.
Galileo was not the person who invented the telescope, but he was the first one to use the telescope to study the heavens. He made many observations using the telescope that shocked the religious world. In this short essay, I will only focus on three observations and how an Aristotlean reacts to it. These observations played a very important role on the development of astronomy. The first object he observed was the moon.
Do you believe in the moon landing conspiracy? There are various theories that skeptics compose to attempt to accuse NASA of faking the Apollo moon landings, although all these simple explanations will prove these theories wrong. The moon landing conspiracy was “claimed” to be a hoax since it was the only time the U.S. has ever landed on the moon was under Nixon’s administration, and the reason for this is after we finally made it to the moon the interest for the USSR else to make it there died out just like the flow of money that had been invested into the missions; skeptics attempt to say that it was faked since even with the technological advances we haven’t been back to the moon, but this is easily proven wrong by simply stating that the
(This produces pressure equivalent to pressure two miles under water on Earth.) These conditions project a less than comfortable life on Venus. The Moon has held Man's curiosity since we were created, leading to such missions as the Apollos. These space missions have taught us a lot about what life on the moon would be like. The moon has little to offer us in the way of settlement: it has little to no atmosphere, and only one sixth of the gravity of Earth.
So many began to believe this is true. Today, there is still talk of this "Moon Hoax". There are many things that one can say doesn't make sense about the whole idea of landing on the moon. Most astronauts that have landed on the moon have brought back samples of a type of Lunar rock. According to Dr. Sten Odenwald, we have accumulated at least 841.6 pounds of moon rock.. ?Moon Hoax?
That is because the Moon's gravity is only 17% of Earth's gravity. You would float into the dark sky, and if you weren't attached to anything stationary, you would float off into outer space, and probably never return. No doubt that the Moon has been in existence for a long time, there are still many millions of years left for us to explore what the Moon has in store for us. The age of the moon is quite controversial. Scientists have studied the Moon to try to give it an approximate age.
However, the demotion of Pluto caused a lot of arguments and debates between Astronomers. Astronomers in favour of that decision thought it was a revolution of science and the way it should be approached. It wasn't until 2005 when Mike Brown discovered the "Kuiper Belt" which was said to be bigger than Pluto and the doubts about Pluto being considered as a planet raised. Regardless of the amount of astronomers who agreed about the demotion, a percentage of those scientists thought that word "Planet" is too vague. Still, having subcategories such as "Gas Giants", "Terrestrial Planets (Pluto being one of them)" and "Asteroids".
If methane were there, it could not have escaped the atmosphere of Mars, leading to a conclusion that there wasn’t any methane. Another reason for the lack of life on Mars is that landers sent to Mars were unable to detect any life. “In 1976, NASA's Viking 1 and 2 landers touched down o... ... middle of paper ... ...s, knowing these facts? Life on Mars is nonexistent because of the lack of methane and the inability to find any organisms on the surface. Although there is water on Mars, it does not guarantee life.
Early astronomers and Greek Philosophers believed that the Earth was the center of the universe, and that gravity was thought to pull all things to the center of the universe. Finally, the heavens were perfect places, they were unchanging, perfect spheres. This ended up to be proven incorrect by Astronomers such as Copernicus, Kepler, and Tycho and their challenges of the Earth or geocentric model. Travel to the moon would have been impossible much earlier than the first landing of the moon in 1969. This is because the first telescope was not even invented until 1609 by Hans Lippershey, and the moon was first observed by telescope in 1610 by Galileo.
It is known that the surface of the moon that is exposed to the sun doesn’t contain water since the sun breaks it down and evaporates it as hydrogen and oxygen (NASA 2005). Due to the Moon’s unique orbit, there are craters on the Moon that are never exposed to the sun. These are potential sites for water as they are not exposed to the sun and likely haven’t been exposed for billions of years (Barone 2009). This is the first step in scientific methodology (Lutgens 2008). NASA used experience to form a conjecture and made a prediction.
