Many civilians are ignorant to the dangers Police Officers face when they put on that badge and uniform; ambushes, high risked calls, and moral dilemmas. Law Enforcement goes beyong issuing citations and making arrests. That is why "End of Watch", a crime drama, is such and outstanding film - it portrayed the reality of Police work so greatly. It showed the brotherhood, or "human" side of Police Officers, and that they endure hardships just as much as the next person, if not more. When the film was first marketed, it was expected to fall within the cheesy cop movie perception, partners after a criminal and eventual catches him in the end, happily ever after. However, its authenticity has shown that sometimes there isnt a "happily ever after". …show more content…

Roll Call is a meeting Officers have before their shift to brief them on whats going on in their community and certain people/vehicles to look out for. During Roll Call the Sergeants most important message was for everyone to make it home to their families at the end of their shift. Similar, to actual Police work, the Officer's main focus is to get back home in the same condition he/she left their house in. They are days where everything is smoothe sailing, and the Officer has to do a work a security detail. They are days when everything is hectic and the Officer has court, and several house calls to answer to. Nonetheless, they should always have to be prepared for the worst. Throughout the film it stressed the importance of "watch your 6" or having your partners back. Due to where they were patrolling in Los Angeles, it was important to have each others' back because it was the community versus the Police. There were times when Taylor and Zavala were out numbered and had to deescalate irritated party goers while back up was five to ten minutes away. Parrallel to real Police work, there are times when its the cop against a gang of people and it is up to the him/her to resolve it before things go left.
