Empathy is know as the ability to understand and share the feelings of another (Google’s definition).An example of empathy is feeling the same amount of excitement as a friend, when they tell you they're in a relationship. The narcissist lacks empathy: is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others.Empathy is a choice and understanding of something.
