Understanding other people’s perspective is vital when it comes to making someone a more informed and a more sympathetic person. For example, in politics, there are two main sides; the democrats and the republicans. These two sides almost never see eye to eye, but when they see from the other’s point of view, an agreement can be made. In,” What of This Goldfish,Would You Wish?” by Etgar Keret, an accident occurs that could have been prevented if the two characters understood each other's diverse backgrounds. In lines 57-58, the text says, “ The KGB felt right at home knocking on his door.” This text shows that Sergei is still immensely struggling to find peace. Yoni has no idea of his past, and he knocks on Sergei's door and then he abruptly comes in. This startles Sergei because he had never experienced anyone barging into his house unless they had connections to the KGB. So, Sergei connects Yoni’s actions to the KGB, and that is why he killed him. There are two examples of the characters not understanding each other's point of view here. Le Guin. In line five, the narrator says,” There wasn’t any bad in him, not one mean bone.” This text reveals how the wife fees after she has killed her husband. After the husband changes from a wolf to a human, the wife never gets a complete understanding of the husband’s intentions. The wife automatically assumes that the husband wants to harm the kids; this is based off of her motherly instinct. Much like herself, the husband could have been trying to protect himself, but she never tried to work anything out, she instantly has him killed. After he was killed, she soon realizes that he was a good soul, and he would not have acted out of instinct as she had.
