Education and library services are the two faces of the same coin. The library is the backbone of all the academic activities and it is the heart of an educational institution. The primary purpose of an academic library is to support teaching, research and other academic programmes and extension activities. Academic libraries serve two complimentary purposes: to support the college’s curriculum, and to support the research of the college faculty and students. The user community of College Library comprises students, teachers, staff and extension workers. Usually the students heavily depend upon text-books and such other recommended documents referred to by their teachers. Therefore the collection of a college library mostly consists of recommended textbook and reference book, fiction and non-fiction books. The basic responsibility of an academic library being to support the teaching-learning, research and extension programme of the parent institution, the collection has to be built up accordingly.
An academic library is a part of service organization whose primary role is to promote excellence in curricular and co-curricular programmer by way of providing easy and convenient access to documents and information contained in document. Library services for students have never been as important for students as they are today. In this age of information explosion and changes frontiers of educational scenario calls for access to the knowledge and lifelong learning and literacy skills to develop potentialities with the studies.
The academic libraries are witnessing tremendous changes due to the developments of information technology and the phenomenal rise of electronic resources. The academic library collections are no more only in p...

The purpose of an academic library will always be to support the needs of its users with the most relevant highest quality information resources, and no change in format will alter this. With electronic as with print resources, quality level, and relevance must remain primary. Information that was basically available in printed format such as books , journals etc. now exists in electronic format such as e-books, e-journals, etc that are called as e-resources. 21st century library users demand access to electronic materials. They use computers to search and receive information, create documents and communicate with each others. It the academic librarians duty to meet the users need.
Libraries have been around for centuries, serving as places of wonder for children and as quiet sanctuaries for adults. The age of technology, however, has been quite detrimental for these places; shelves of books have been replaced by screens, and librarians have been replaced by search engines. There are some who wholeheartedly wish to preserve libraries, and the author of this article is one. Zadie Smith argues for the conservation of libraries and, throughout the writing, utilizes many literary devices to support and strengthen her claims.
Research in Library Science is conducted in many areas covering multiple questions, but one thing shared is data collection. Qualitative and quantitative information to support the question at hand are necessary to validate the needs or phenomenon or trends (Wildemuth, 2009). Transaction logs and focus groups are two valuable data collection techniques.

This library system is utilizing all the technologies and materials available to them to serve the community in the best way. Despite certain social indicators and demographic statistics indicating that the library should not be overly utilized, it is thriving and is heavily in use. There are areas that the library can look to improve based on statistical evidence, such as reaching out to the low income population and the over 55 years age group. This library seems to be meeting numerous needs for a wide range of patrons, and doing it well.

This will be capable of competing with the best institution libraries in the world, and it will improve the standard of education and even the physical beauty of the campus in general. This kind of modern library will no doubt arrive with the best of textbooks and other materials required by the students of the great Lonestar Montgomery. Also, engineers who are up to the task must be invited to take up this responsibility for the best performance. One of the ways of achieving results in this case is to hear from the students by the use of questionnaires or direct contact and detect the kind of structure and materials they really desire for the new library. The new facility should be designed such that it will be a cynosure of all eyes. The students should also be well educated on the usage of the new facility in order to enhance the maintenance. Odunayo revealed in his article that, “aside upgrading of the libraries, I would also recommend that government should organize important programs annually where the populace can be taught or trained on the proper usage of the library”. This supports the fact that education on the library usage is also of significant
Automated is transform the materials or records into digital form. As the era of the technology present, the demanding of digital records is drastically increased. Automated records may present archivists their greatest challenge in identifying, selecting, and preserving records of enduring value. Since the introduction of the computer, archivists have been concerned about its impact on their profession's mission. Based on report by the National Archives of Canada on machine-readable data stated that "if one were to take the traditional archival approach of waiting for whatever recorded information came out of the system, then the archivist in the electronic age will undoubtedly die of information starvation."23 Over the past decade archivists have tried to redefine their role in the modern information age, 24 but many seem to have been merely paying lip service to society's major shift to an "information" era. At present one can count on one hand the number of major programs established to deal with automated records, and these are only located at some of the largest archival institutions - The National Archives of Canada, the U.S. National Archives, and the New York, Utah, and Kentucky state archives. Contrast this with the facts: computers have been used for three decades, personal computers have become an ubiquitous feature of society in just the past decade, and a major portion of all information presently being created is going into automated systems of some variety. Nevertheless, there is overwhelming evidence that archivists are not effectively appraising such information nor using the helpful findings of previous research. 25 Current research is, however, both innovative and promising. Archivists have made substantial pro...

The library can also borrow books from the other libraries from different colleges, if there is a specific book that the student may need and when it isn’t in our own library. I have been to the library before many times, but it was only to study with a group of friends in the study room for the upcoming tests and finals. I thought all these resources from the libraries are great and I wish I would have known sooner. Now that I know about all the resources the library can help and provide me with, it will be very helpful for writing research
Electronic resources are part of clinical practice. Clinicians demand user-friendly, well-functioning information systems to support their day-to-day clinical practices based on research evidence practice guidelines (Lee et al., 2018). To maintain the continuity of care, information sharing is an essential component of healthcare service. In this essay, the author has followed the admission process and has identified the different electronic resources in use, the shared information, and further explored the potential benefits and limitations of electronic resources to assist health professionals in their professional work.

Library managers should organize technology-based training for librarians in order to make them comfortable with new technologies and more aware of their dangers. Since technology skills are important part of most library and information jobs, librarians should make sure they acquire technological skills continuously. University libraries should employed qualified information and technology specialist and troubleshooters to maximize system accessibility and provide a level of comfort to the librarians.
The discussion into the relevance of this question can only be fabricated based on the definitive consideration of the internet, a key digital facet that expedites the abrasion of print publications. The internet has rendered access to information very effective, easy and strategic. Gone are the days when one would walk miles to the nearest library in order to satisfy their appetite for reading. With the internet, information storage has largely been restructured and can be retrieved in various digital forms. It is therefore commonsensical to assume that many publications, previously in print form, will eventually appear in digital format as e-books. To champions of printed books, this futuristic scenario provides the basis for their arguments.
With advances in digital technology, there is increasing popularity of reading electronic books over traditional paper books. For example, ebooks now outsell traditional ones on Amazon. Although paper books still have tremendous values and have own market niche, as evident from the number of books placed on shelves at various retailers, e-books will be the trend of text publishing going forward. There are many glaring advantages that e-books have over traditional paper books, as e-books are more convenient to carry, have greater update capacity, have greater storage capacity, more accessible and environmental friendly. This paper will therefore elaborate on the advantages of e-books and provide a comparative analysis of e-books versus traditional books.
