Drunk driving kills thousands of innocent people every year. On the morning of January 10th, 1988, Ellen Lurigś son was killed by a drunk driver. Her son, named Robert was planning on spending the day with his father. ¨My son spent the day with his dad, while another man, a 37-year-old father, spent his day in a bar.¨ It was a beautiful day out, when they returned home, Robert let the dogs out. After 15 minutes, Robert headed out by himself to replenish paintball supplies at a nearby store. Robert told his mother “I love you,” and he left for the store. When a person shares a personal testimony about drunk driving, hearts break for the lost or affected victims. With testimonies you can empower a whole crowd to make our roads safer for everyone. Drunk driving testimonies are melancholy and moving for a reason, changing people’s outlook on drunk driving. “We can’t jail our way out of the problem, (Alcohol and Solutions, 2015). Testimonies can also save lives and heartbreaks, the more testimonies people hear the more change can begin to happen. Drunk driving is not only unsafe but it is reckless. “Every 90 seconds a person is injured in a drunk driving crash” (National Council on Alcoholism, 2015). When someone drives while intoxicated, they not only endanger their own life but the lives of others around them. In any drunk driving accident families will suffer in one way or another, whether it be fatal, injuries or mental pain. Plus the DWI laws can be strict and drawn out. A typical DWI case lasts a minimum of 6 months to a year, if everything goes smoothly (Arnesen Law, 2014). Along with accidents of drunk driving, many are fatal and kill more than one person. Driving while intoxicated is selfish in a way, just because someone wants to drink and thinks they are perfectly fine to drive home, they put other people’s lives in danger. “On average, two in three people will be involved in a drunk driving crash on their lifetime,” (National Council on Alcoholism, 2015). Educating people on how families and victims are affected is important, not only for the families, but for the victims involved. Friends don’t let friends drive drunk, is a key factor. When at a party, drunk driving can always be prevented. “Requiring every state to provide adequate information on alcohol and driving to prospective drivers and adequately testing them on the subject in their drivers exams. In too many states, the subject is given only brief mention and do not include any information or testing in the process of obtaining a driver’s license. Some actually provided factually incorrect information about drinking and driving, (Alcohol and Solutions, 2015). Asking them if they need a cab or taxi, take or hide their keys, or call law enforcement are good ways to stop a person from driving while drunk. Driving while intoxicated is not worth another person’s life, the person may have children, a loving family, husband, career goals, or may be graduating, don’t take these things anyway from anyone over one stupid
