In recent history people have started to drop the arts. Places such as schools do not seem to think that the arts are important anymore. If a school is not directly dedicated to the art then they often have next to nothing of a budget for their arts programs. When a school's budget has to be cut, it is always the arts to go first. At first it is the performing arts classes such as drama and choir. Next it is the drawing and painting classes. Then it seems that sports are the opposite. When it comes to money sports are the greediest little monsters in the schools. Sometimes they even get more budget to waste then the actual school will spend on books and learning supplies.

These people aren't wrong sports can be good for kids, but so is art. Some might even beg to differ that it is actually better, and for some kids it is. Think about all of the kids that can't do sports like kids with mental or physical disabilities. When the funding is cut for art programs it often leave these children with seldom any outlets in school. They are often left with old dried out markers and paint from the 1960s that probably has vast amounts lead in it. And for some reason some people seem to be okay with that. They think that as long as their little jimmy gets to play football against his will to be the star they never were, then everything's all good.
Arts programs have always been the first to go when budget cuts come around. First it is the performing arts department, they tear them down without even giving them a chance. Sometimes like in the case of the rochford jr. sr. high school the drama budget is literally nonexistent. Singing and dancing is “gay” anyways. Then it's the other arts classes to go. This includes art, drawing and painting, ceramics, and even wood shop and metal working. All of these go before sports, sometimes even normal classes go before the sports do.
In conclusion sports really shouldn't be held at a higher level then all of the art classes and be considered untouchable but money troubles. They should
