Dr. Jackson Tarnover carefully examined the medical files placed in front of his with shock and then what appeared to be awe. He was older than most of the people in the walled city and many wanted to proclaim him some kind of King, but his first loyalty was to science and he had spent a lifetime looking for the careful blend of science, medicine and history as that which was laid out before him now. He would keep the subjects name simply as “C” but as the he continued to scan the computer that laid out the case file before him he got more and more shocked and surprised. If he didn’t know medicine and science so well, he would have sworn he had gone insane. His brown eyes squinted and looked at the computer through salt and pepper hair as …show more content…
“And the time traveler “C” has been to 5th century BC Greece, based on fiber samples and a cognitive reading when she first arrived?” Another nod to himself. “She also appears to have been on other planets and mumbled about Helots and a rebellion?” The Dr's eyes were like golden orbs as he looked through the screen at what surely was a missing link in humanity's regression as he asked himself the final question. “And ‘C’ is carrying a baby caused by an …show more content…
If she were truly the link with the US from 35 years ago, she would know about the epidemic and where it started and maybe even how to treat it as she appeared to have a resistance to the strain. He didn't bother to grab his utility belt or weapon, such was his excitement to visit this patient "C". xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx An orderly left a room, fresh with a message for Dr. Tarnover with new news and she was cursing the power outage, but she knew her way intuitively to the radiology room. Her feet trod confidently down the darkened corridor until she felt something and………………tripped. She tried to rise but something had constricted around her ankle and was pulling her into the darkness. She reached into her utility belt for a weapon…..and then remembered she was in the hospital area.
Another aspect of the story is associated with Major Nancy Jaax. She is a member of USAMRIID or United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases. USAMRIID does research on different w...
Hearing the beeping and creaking noise of the machine, as the patient slowly rolls inside, is an everyday routine. As the patient sits inside, quietly panicking from claustrophobia, the patient’s body is scanned, hears reassuring words about how they are doing great and to stay still over the microphone. A twelve-year-old boy named Chase, had just recently fallen out of a tree and broke a few bones in his arm and collarbone. The Radiologist of the facility, Dr. Anderson M.D, instructs to scan the entire body just to make sure nothing else was sprained or broken as the boy’s body was covered in a few scrapes and bruises. As his body was being scanned, the MRI Tech and Chase start to ask each other questions to calm down his nerves and distract him from
He wondered if he had gone mad. He covered his ears with both of his hands, but he could still hear the garbled voices that were echoing around the room. He sat for a moment behind his desk and slow his breathing telling himself that he was simply tired.
He gazed back at her, his light blue eyes looked over her features before he looked away for a moment. He set one hand on the table, his palm up to reveal the dark ink that was embedded in his flesh, the symbol that always seemed to appear when Greed knew she had something to do.
they realized that, while the doctor was giving attention to that one patient, someone who needed him
I sit in the waiting room of the local hospital, clutching my hands in a fist. There are a lot of people even at this late of an hour all shuffling about, going up to the receptionists’ desk with scowls on their faces. They speak in harsh words and point at the clock. It seems like I’m the only calm one in a state of confusion, but I’m too scared to get up or do anything. My spine grinds against the back of the chair as I shift position so I’m hunched over. My hands are white and shaking, and my throat is parched but I gulp anyway as a lady comes up to me. I see only her sneakers and don’t meet her eyes.
Lying sprawled out on the floor within an aisle of a Barnes and Noble bookstore, the crisp snapping of pages on my sweaty fingers accelerates my heart rate to a rapid level. My mind has escaped to a new paradise, I have lost connection with the world around me and have encircled myself with an array of mystery novels. However, they are not the conventional mysterious reads about ghosts and haunted houses, but instead, they are the inspiring and captivating stories of medicine. I find myself entering a trauma operating room, with a little boy on the operating table who has just been airlifted from a car accident. I can hear from outside the operating room his mother crying and banging on the window, screaming “do not let my little boy die”.
As we arrive at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, we see about 100 or so people waiting outside to get in. We decide to stop and ask what was going on before visiting Nate. “Hello sir, what is this line for”, I ask the young man in the front of the line. “Didn’t you hear, the cure is a certain blood type and they need it to start making more of the solution”, said the young man. “Oh okay, thank you”, I say as me and John continue on to Nate’s

Help! Doctor! She rushed in putting him on the bed next to his mothers. Doctor is we dont stop this the boy will ultimately go into cardiac arrest. I know nurse, I know…
I said, "goodbye" to the nurse and left that awful place. Outside, I took a deep breath of cool fresh air. I practically ran to get inside my safe car. When back inside i cried in excruciating pain, I couldn't even feel my face. I sat there for a while thinking of those three terrifying words, Dr. Rust's office. I inserted the key into my ignition, turned it and drove away. When I knew I was home safe, I looked into my rear-view mirror. When I saw that old rickety building filled with bad experiences, I realized that that had been the most uncomfortable place I had ever visited, and I surely wasn't going to return.
Passing the waiting room on his way out of the hospital entrance, a woman calls his name. He turns to her and tries to recall if he knows her, but he has no recollection of her. "I know who you are. I know what's happening." A million questions come to his mind. "Not here," she explains. "We must go somewhere private." She leads him to her car and tells him to get in. He follows the command and slides into the passenger seat. "Please...
I was quivering as I sat on the pristinely white sheeted gurney. I had no idea what to expect. Ami sat in a plastic, maroon chair over in the corner and looked at the cold, disinfected, tile floor. The sounds of beeping machines and ticking clock flooded my ears. The nurse knocked on the door and both Ami and I jumped. She handed me a clipboard with some paperwork on it that asked for the basics: name, date of birth, reason for being here, consent to treat, and so on and so forth. I filled it all out the best I could, my mind was lost in another galaxy. Besides, how was I supposed to know what year my father was born in and the phone number to my mother’s work? Once I finished, the nurse took the clipboard and exited the room once again.
The destroyed mess that he was, had no one who would comfort him. His mind flashed back to red hair and intelligent brown eyes before he shook his head.
