The Dodge brothers were and still are well recognized for being one of the prime car industrialists purchasable, but countless individuals do not know they were likewise respectable machinists as well. For instance the Dodge brothers worked in their fathers’ machine shop learning the basic skills every machinist requires to start out. Later they shaped a dirt-resistant ball bearing for bicycles that they were soon to manufacture. After selling their part of that company they opened their own shop in addition to work on along with produce parts for Olds and Ford. The Dodge brothers from the time they opened their shop to their car manufacturing business had become one great salesman alongside a great and knowledgeable machinist. The childhood of the Dodge brothers was one of poverty and hard work. The family consisted of John (1864-1920), Horace (1868-1920), their sister Della, Father Daniel Rugg Dodge, and their mother Maria. Later Horace created a dirt-resistant ball bearing for the bikes to which the brothers ended up selling their part of the company for $3,700 in 1900 to develop their own machine shop where they worked on and produced 3,000 transmissions and 2,000 motors for Olds and later broke the deal off with Olds to work for Ford who paid them with 50 shares in the Ford motor company to produce everything but a body. The achievements obtained through their machine shop had led them to open their own car brand (Dodge Brothers Car Company). The company was a huge hit even before any details had been released with 22,000 people applying to be dealers. On November 14, 1914 the first Dodge Brothers car rolled off the line.
