Video games can be more than you imagined. How can videogames affect the mental health of people? Parents and adults relate the word video game to non-benefit entertainment, but in reality they can be more than that. As a person who has played videogames since I have had consciousness, I can assure that they have taught me many valuables skills. They should not be underestimated just for being a new technology, but instead, video games should be encouraged to everyone who wants to improve their thinking. Although many people belief that shooters, action, and online video games are only for entertainment, they can significantly improve sociality, multitasking, vision and brain power in general.

When playing video games multiple inputs are required to make the game work properly, it’s not only pressing a button mindlessly and expecting good results. For instance, in shooter games like Call of Duty or Battlefield, you need to use the joystick to move your character around, but at the same time you have to press button to aim you weapon and use another button to finally shoot it, all these while keeping track of your enemy. It may sound like a complicated task, but after a few minutes into the game, new players can catch up really quick. “First person shooters require players to notice and act quickly at new events that may pop up anywhere on screen, it’s basically training them to be better multitaskers.” (Knapp). Constantly paying attention to the events that happens inside the game while moving your character will stimulate the ability to complete more than one task at the time. Knapp suggests that video games are a cost-effective way to train employees to pay better attention and been capable of multitasking. This type of multitasking training goes unnoticed as it is a fun and entertaining way to keep you brain constantly working and can even be social if multiplayer games are
