The making of Disney Land began on July 21st 1954 this was only leaving 12 months of construction time until the opening day. Disney Land was around 160 acres in capacity and was located in a semi-rural area in the Orange County. Walt was burdened with millions of questions and doubt from several people about the running of Disney Land and if it would ever work out as this was something that had never been created before. Walt had Disney Land made up of 5 different lands, Main ST USA, Adventure Land, Frontier Land, Fantasyland Land and Tomorrow Land. Walt invested $17 million into Disney Land and was very anxiously awaiting the opening day. 11,000 were sold and by the afternoon over 28,000 people were in the park. Walt was also out of luck as Southern California was suffering from a record heat wave. Temperatures were reaching around 100 degrees Fahrenheit. In the same day a gas leak occurred which caused Fantasyland, Fronteirland and Adventureland to close down for the rest of the day. After Walt was notified of all the disasters that had happened he knew he had to act quickly and make drastic measures to ensure on the next day Disney Land opened things like this did not occur. Walt now knew to avoid disaster and ensure all visitors where having the time of their life he had to make sure none of these things happened again. In 1959 Walt began the hunt to look for another space to develop another Disney Land but this one would be known as Disney World and would feature the famous Magic Kingdom. Walt wanted to ensure this Disney World would be in an easily located place as he did a survey after the opening of Disney Land and asked the question of how many people visited and the number was low due to the reason being that its location in Anaheim was not easily
