I think the author believes that the biggest mistake that children make as they attempt to mature in the world around them is that they do so many actions without thinking about what could happen as a result of what they do. I know this by how Lily Owens acts during the story. A time that this happens during the story is when Lily decides to leave his father and learn more about her mother, who was accidentally killed by Lily when she was a toddler. Her reasoning for this is that she hates how she is treated by her father, T-Ray, and how horrid his punishments could be to her. For example, she gets scrapes on her knee caps from kneeling on top of bread grits as a constant punishment put on by T-Ray for doing things like going outside of the …show more content…

If little things like going outside of your house could make him mad enough to hurt you, imagine how mad her father could be towards terrible insults made toward him. I know she was mad but Lily, like what many children do, didn’t think how people could react to their actions. This action actually did backfire on Lily because when she tried to call her father about how he reacted to her running away, T-Ray was furious. He yelled at Lily a lot and even insulted how dumb she was for leaving. Another moment in the story that proves the biggest mistake is that children do too much without thinking was when Lily Owens left to a city she barely even knows about. As said at the beginning, Lily left his father because of his bad treatment.To fulfill her hope of knowing more about her mother, Lily went to a city called Tiburon, in South Carolina. Lily’s reasoning for going to this city was that a picture that was owned by her mother had that the name of that city on the back of it. Before this, Lily had never gone to the city or knew what it looked like. So when Lily and her housekeeper, Rosaleen, going through an unknown city made Lily confused about where the two would go
