Dental nurse is important part of the team who is there for doctor to take notes, assist him or clean up after procedure. She is also there for patient to welcome him and support him during procedure.

A patient must be able to trust that healthcare professional will provide the best possible care. They must feel confident and safe so that they can be treated effectively. A breach of the boundaries can seriously damage this trust. It can cause significant and permanent harm to patients and damage their trust in the healthcare professional and the public trust in healthcare professionals in general. Sexual or inappropriate involvement with a patient may influence a healthcare professional’s decisions about care and treatment of the patient.

b) What are the required attributes (qualities) of a dental nurse?
• Appearance- good personal hygiene, clean uniform and tidy hair is very important
• Attitude to work- dental nurse need positive and flexible approach to work; be able to relate well to people, including children and those with special needs; she also need good teamwork skill; negative body language or using mobile phones indicates lack of care or concentration
• Behavior- for dental nurse is important being organised, have good team working skills, punctuality, have good communication skills, being respectful to others and have calming reassuring manners

This can negatively affect patient-e.g. long waiting. It also mean that if I am not carrying out requirements of my work role I can put in the danger other person. For example: effective cleaning is essential and should be carried out as soon as possible after the instrument has been used to reduced risk of transmitting infection, it is imperative that single use instruments are not reprocessed and reused for any reason, for the same reason (cross infection) I have to disinfect the impressions before they are send off to the lab; I have to pay care to separate waste in the right disposal containers or bags to prevent harm others or
