Morals, decisions, simplicity, politics, and death. All such desperate words, yet connected by the existence of each human being. Individuals are controlled by his or her own beliefs of what is right or wrong. This leads each person to make choices in their lives that are more than likely based upon simple desires, such as gaining power, or obtaining something trivial. While many people may actually stop to think about the consequences to their actions, sadly others do not. They believe there is only one way to succeed in getting what they want, and to them the solution is killing; or to put it more bluntly assassination. Obviously in order to obtain power an individual is not limited to assassination as the only possible solution. There are always better ways other than cold murder; such as striping someone of their status, implementing co-rulers, or moving to where you can agree upon the situation. I’m positive that had Macbeth stopped to consider any of these options, not only would he have prevented breaking his values as a person, but also saved the life of his former friend King Duncan. In the essay by Dawn Krider, Krider states that, “Killing a human being as a deterrent to crime is, in essence, using a human being as a means rather than an ends. Some will say that the killer's actions are irreversible and that such a crime deserves an equal punishment,” (Krider 3). Realistically killing a human being hinders them from reaching their goal of mature potential. Macbeth began as a well-respected individual, but the faults in his decisions quickly caused his downfall. The assassination of King Duncan, among the countless other assassinations that take place throughout the world, was indeed a premeditated murder.
