DBA Goal

This goal is a culmination of my professional life of developing and leading non-profit organizations to address community needs. Armed with a DBA degree, I will be able to parlay my experience designing educational problems as solutions to address community issues with sound knowledge of business practices and a network of like-minded thinkers and practitioners. In addition my goal to obtain a DBA is aligned with my chief personal values. For example, if one is parent, one should strive to be a better parent and a better parent or if one is a teacher one should strive to learn the craft better. In my case, from my preschool years I loved reading and writing and then as a graduate student in Instructional Design which is an interdisciplinary program that includes the study of Program Evaluation, Project Management, Research Foundations and Distance Education, I fell in love with research, was fascinated by the process of writing a literary review, and thereby purposed to seek …show more content…

I plan to garner the support of family and friends to assist me in eliminating distractions that may encroach my study time.
Steps, Personal Strengths, Personal Weaknesses
The steps that I plan to incorporate are based on my SWOT analysis in which my weak areas are performing routine tasks and accounting skills, but my strengths are the ability to learn new information, coupled with the desire to be a researcher / scholar-practicioner who needs help with statistics and improving my listening skills. The following steps are aligned to my strengths and weaknesses.
1. Attend Walden University residencies equipped with a research question for my doctoral capstone. This step is aligned to my strength of being able to learn new things, and in the case of my goal to obtain a DBA I need this information from the residency to be successful.
2. Spend weekly time at the Writing Center &Academic Center. This step is aligned with my weak area in the fields of accounting and statistics and to improve my writing skills and computation
