In the novel “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time” by Mark Haddon, there are many aspects that make this novel different from the average novel and worth studying. The visual elements in the novel differentiate it from the average novel and makes it more interesting for the reader. Christopher is an unusual character and is a limited narrator. This book is worth studying as it makes you appreciate your life and see things from other people's perspective.

This novel is different from the average novel because it includes many visual elements. This makes the book more appealing for the reader because it is unusual for novels to have visual elements like tables and diagrams. These elements were used to hook in the reader and show aspects of Christopher’s world/thinking process that we may otherwise be unaware of. They give us an insight into Christopher’s mind and show us how different his life is to ours. An example of this is when Christopher draws a map of his neighbourhood that he calls “approximate”. He is a limited narrator because since he has aspergus, he “finds people confusing” and finds it difficult to understand other people/other people’s emotions. This means that the audience only get told about how he thinks/feels and have to interpret what he is saying to find out the other character's perspective and make judgements of their own. It also makes the audience feel part of Christopher's world and understand why he acts the way he does. In the average novel, the narrator is usually not a limited narrator so the audience do not have to interpret what they are saying and make judgements of their own as the narrator can read other people's emotions to give a more well rounded view of a situation or
