Local police departments have long been accused of profiling Hispanic and other minorities in law enforcement activities, including random traffic stop and illegal searches. Critics fear that immigration enforcement by state and local authorities will lead to increase of racism. Many Americans have shown concerns with the implementation of racist discrimination of the U.S immigration laws by state police agencies and local authorities. One of the most critical issues for the police in the last three decades is the tension, and often hostile upright, between the police and ethnic minority group. In the past few decades, minority representation has increased significantly in the U.S police departments. Several training programs have been developed to address the issue of cultural diversity. According to Dempsey the law enforcement is actively searching, developing and implementing training programs related to staff as well as community outreach programs for minority communities to enhance intercultural understanding chemistry.
