The field of culinary arts is just that; an art form. To be successful in this profession one requires a certain set of skills which include dedication, an ability to work with others, and most importantly, creativity. Working long hours with little recognition or thanks can quickly drain an individual. In order to get through the difficult times a person will need a deep-seated passion for cooking. I believe for a kitchen to be successful it needs to run like a well-oiled machine. Each employee is a small cog that is still necessary for the restaurant to run effectively. One minor problem could escalate into a major disaster, because of this reason it is important to be able to communicate with others in order to get the job done. Creating new food is my favorite part of the job. It creates a new challenge, from choosing the right ingredients to perfecting the final product, while keeping things from getting stale. I had so many different interests as I grew up it was hard for me to decide on just one area. From veterinary, to audio engineering, and even criminal justice, I tried several different fields but nothing felt like the freedom of culinary arts. I grew up with food being an integral part of my family. The biggest inspirations I have to further my education are my aunt and uncle. They have owned their own restaurant for nearly forty years. I had always seen how much time they had put into their work but from it they created a successful business. Working for them as I gained more responsibility in the kitchen was the driving force behind me furthering my education.
