The expectations of society can either build an individuals decision-making process into generating norms and actions based on what society predisposes as socially acceptable. This can be something as simple as graduating high school an going to college, or it can be short-term and reflect a week schedule consisting of work, family time and Sunday church. These expectations of society are either followed by the men and women living amongst one another or they disregarded by those that decided to walk a different path. They are built from an alliance that believes in the same principles, norms, and beliefs. These beliefs and values generate a and that is stronger and more loyal than the rest of the larger group of society. These bonds can, however, generate a loyalty that may drive individual past social expectations and into the physical act of committing a crime. Criminal subculture is a driving force for delinquency and gang activity. One of the biggest foreseen criminal subcultures in society is gangs. In California in the 1960’s these primal subcultures were on the rise and as the arrest was made gang members found themselves incarcerated in the California Board of Corrections. During this time the local gang members begin to fight with one another based on their criminal activities. These fights issued a complete overhaul and initiated a remodeling of the population by distributing key figures to different locations. This helped alleviate the immediate issue amongst the criminal subculture incarcerate in California but unfortunately, it also caused the gangs to grow in population through recruitment and geographical relocations (American Military University, last visited Apr 18, …show more content…

When a juvenile is raised in a subculture that is already practicing criminal activity, they will naturally follow in the footsteps of their older siblings. These actions will lead young men and women down a path of criminal activities and for some of these subcultures when a young and or women are sent to the juvenile detention center they are seen as an adult that has crossed their right of passage. The unfortunately also generates a form of social behavior driven by violence that is seen as normal within a subculture.
