Sometimes when people are amongst conflict, they act impetuously in certain situations. In the play Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare, careless actions take place by the characters when they are put into stressful and difficult situations. They are not thought through and result in consequences for more than just themselves. In Romeo and Juliet when in the midst of conflict, characters tend to think and act impulsively and not think of the reaction to their actions. They do not think of the consequences their actions may bring, or how they may affect others in the future.
To begin, in the play Romeo and Juliet, William Shakespeare makes a point in emphasizing the feud between the Montagues and Capulets. The feud shows how they are all just living in the moment and not thinking about how this feud could affect others living presently and also in the future. They are not thinking rationally but instead are stuck on the fact that they both think they are better than one another. Even though they were not allowed to be together, it didn't mean that they had to kill themselves. They thought in that moment that the best idea for them was to run away. They didn't tell anyone and pretended like nothing was going on. Just because Romeo was banished and Juliet was a Capulet meant that they could not see each other, but if they wanted to they could have tried to think of a better idea than running away. They might have to run away in the future if they want to be together but they did not really give anyone a chance to even think about the idea and give it a chance. Conflict has many different meanings for both physical and verbal abuse. Conflict could be a viscous feud or a full on physical fight. These days in television soap dramas we intend to see more verbal conflict than physical violence. But over the last couple of years new television programmes have been released which contains a lot of action-packed fighting and physical conflict of some kind. Some programmes include physical and verbal conflict including, “Eastenders”, “The Bill” and other programmes similar to these. The releasing of films such as, “Indiana Jones”, and “Rambo” catches the audience’s attention by involving action-packed, exciting features such as heavy arguments or thrilling battles. Some films are made to include action and excitement but when audiences watch it they cannot help feeling sorry for the victim or just generally sad for the people having the fight. In the same way Romeo and Juliet presents conflict more intense than most soap dramas. When the play was first performed in “The Theatre”, in Shoreditch in the mid 1590’s, the Elizabethan audience was shocked at how Juliet disobeyed her father and also how Romeo and Juliet disobeyed their families. Sympathy must be felt for the audience because they would have never known the idea of a son or daughter disobeying their father. The law at that time stated that the daughter was the property of her father until the daughter got married then her husband “owned” her as property. From this sympathy must be felt for Juliet because she is a victim of arranged marriages. Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet uses opposing forces to express the differences and problems splitting Verona. He uses themes of Life and death, Light and dark, young and old, free will and fate and many other themes that are constantly being brought up throughout the play. Shakespeare used many of these opposing forces and sonnets as at the time he wrote the play this was very big and popular among the people.
From constant quarrels to deaths and a banishment, Romeo and Juliet go on loving each other until the end. The play starts with a somewhat happy and a tad comedic feeling, but ultimately ends as a tragedy. It wasn't fate but rather Romeo and Juliet's hasty actions that brought their untimely deaths.

When one looks closely at the story of Romeo and Juliet, one will see that it is a story with many ethical aspects. The first ethical concern was the two feuding families. How moral is it to hate someone only because they have a certain family name? This all come from a time period when people were fairly focused on religion, which teaches us not to hate. I also question this because I think it is ironic that both Romeo and Juliet seem to be fairly religious, since the first person Romeo went to for help was Friar Lawrence, and a few scenes in the play took place in or around the church. I think that this hatred is especially bad in the case of the Capulets and the Montagues, because I was always under the impression that the families had been feuding for so long that no one really knew why they hated each other anymore. This was the beginning of the problems for Romeo and Juliet. They had a moral decision to make. Should they stay true to their families, and deny their love, or should they stay true to their feelings and disgrace their families? In order to resolve this dilemma, Romeo turns to Friar Lawrence, who perhaps could be seen as the most moral character, to begin with. Because he was a holy man, he was the most logical confidant of anyone in the play. People see men of the cloth as reliable and a good source of advice. Of course, Friar Lawrence has every intention of helping the two lovers, also hoping that he could reunite the feuding families. However, unbeknownst to him, everything he will do throughout the play will have an unnerving consequence. No matter what he did to correct what he had done wrong, it only drug him deeper into trouble. Who ever would have thought that by marrying the two young lovers, he would have caused all of this heartache for the families, and really for all of Verona? No one ever considered the fact that two young people wanting to get married would have affected the entire city. Friar Lawrence was only trying to be a good friend and ally, but everything he did just ended up backfiring for him.

Argumentative behavior and hostility can force people to take undesired actions and change their morals. In Romeo and Juliet, many characters experience the rapid moral change in themselves after a fight starts between the Montagues and the Capulets resulting in them only able to follow orders since they sided with a family. Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet delves into the duality that conflict can be damaging and altering in one’s mind as a consequence of Sampson and the Montague guards, Romeo and Juliet, and the Montagues and the Capulets.
When people do not think about their choices clearly, they may make poor decisions with troubling consequences. In Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, the lovers Romeo and Juliet both take their own lives. Romeo’s rash decisions are to blame for Romeo and Juliet’s deaths because he does not consider the problems that may arise from his actions. In the story, Romeo kills Tybalt without thinking of the consequences, and gets banished from Verona. After, when he hears of Juliet’s death, he quickly decides to kill himself and does not give himself more time to consider his options. Romeo’s poor choices lead him and Juliet to their deaths.
Ultimately, Romeo and Juliet become embodiments of impulsiveness. Through their rash words and actions in the tragedy “Romeo and Juliet”, Shakespeare sets forth that both are too hasty in their decisions, leading them into unfortunate events. As the plot unfolds, Romeo and Juliet’s futile love is torn apart by their family’s hate and animosity towards each other. Despite their constant struggle to let their love survive, it is doomed from the beginning of the tragedy. It is plain that lack of foresight and wisdom leads to disaster all around.
