What drives the plot of a novel? A novels plot is driven by conflict. One such novel is the Princess Bride and it's plot is driven by the conflict of the characters. One of these characters is Fezzik. Fezzik overcomes a great internal struggle and this drives the novel and allows for a resolution. Fezzik is able to learn how to make decisions with his intelligence, strength, and his friends.

One reason Fezzik is able to complete his goal is that he is intelligent. As the novel goes into very deeply Fezzik has believed all his life that he is dumb however he shows streaks of intelligence with out him thinking about it in the novel. One example of this is when Fezzik joins the brute squad after he, Inigo, and Vizzini are split up. This is intelligent due to that Fezzik remembers the meeting spot after the job is the thieves quarter and the brute is going in the the quarter to clear out all the thieves. Since the place that Inigo and Vizzini would go would be the thieves so inevitably he would find Inigo and Vizzini. Another example of Fezzik's intelligence is when he thinks about Miracle Max to help Wesley. As the novel explains Fezzik is the best wrestler in the entire world so obviously he is one of the strongest men is the world. A way that Fezzik shows this is when he carries himself, Inigo, Vizzini and Buttercup up the cliffs of insanity. Strength is shown at this moment in that Fezzik is able to do something that no has attempted before him with three people on his back. Fezzik's strength also is the reason why he and Inigo are able to save Wesley from the Zoo of Death. Fezzik breaks down the door that hold the most dangers spider in the world in the handle and this enables he and Inigo to live and for the plot to continue.
