The composition demonstrated a similar theme with each section, and I immediately noticed the reappearance of a theme. I truly appreciated the simplicity of the Li... ... middle of paper ... ...h faster and had a tempo of allegro. The very short notes in the violin part made it feel light feeling, and more dance-like than the three. The violin and piano played in unison together several times. I found this movement to be the hardest to follow of the three because I didn’t hear a recurring theme a lot.
A rapid run up the keys of the piano and a final swell in the strings brought Allegretto grazioso to an abrupt end. Prior to attending this concert, I had never seen a performance involving piano and orchestra, and quite frankly, I wasn’t sure if it would work. I thought that the piano might overpower the orchestra, or vice versa, or that the combination would be too busy. I found that with a proper balance in the arrangement between piano and orchestra, and a skillful conductor such as D. Kern Holoman collaborating with a virtuoso such as Michael Boriskin, the genre can be most satisfying.
It flows and brings all the emotions I felt watching that scene. The transition of the symphony brought on the memories of this scene in the Sound of Music. I chose this piece over the other ones because this is the only one that brought happiness and memories the very first time I heard it. It brought so much happiness to me that I got up dancing several times. I wanted to just go out and dance the night away like I didn’t have class the next morning.
The themes in the movements differed and really captivated my attention. This and the first piece of the concert were very nice and I really enjoyed them. This concert was very nice and enjoyable. The performance overall was very good and easy to listen to. All the pieces they played except for the second one I really did like.

This piece was U.S. Premiere, played solo by the pianist Luiza Borac. The third piece was Piano Quartet in E-flat major, Opus 47. This piece was an Andante cantabile piece. This concerto was performed by pianist Luiza Borac, violinist Conrad Chow and Adelya Shagidullina, and Cellist Kian Soltani.
On Sunday November 5, 2017 I had the chance to attend an Elgin Symphony Orchestra performance. The whole classical show aspect was new to me everything from having to get dressed up and sit in a smaller theater located in the Hemmens Cultural Center was a very different experience for me. The entire show had two performers. A piano trio group based in Elgin played at the beginning of the show to get the crowd warmed up followed by the Elgin Symphony Orchestra. The piano trio only played three songs but each one was unique.
Visually, the conductor was animated just enough and I felt his movements furthered the music in a sense, like you could see and hear the music and the elation that the movement carries. Before attending the concert, I looked up what made Beethoven’s 9th orchestra so incredible, and many sources told me to wait for the surprise ending, that included vocalists and a choral. The variations of “Ode to Joy” were magnificently played by the double basses and the cellos. When the bass solo began, I knew I was in for a treat, and once Ms. Nagy the soprano began to sing I felt such amazement, the notes she could hit were unbelievably high and she sung them effortlessly and beautifully. I believe the fourth and final movement was in sonata form.
The use of different composers in it gave the listener the ability to hear the different style used. For example, Mozart’s piece was dramatic were as Debussy was flowing and dance like. Each piece also had excellent examples of how when the composers changed the texture and dynamics, it made the song very interesting. I was not a fan of classical music, but this solo recital helped me see the errors in my ways. Everyone should have to hear at least one classical concert in their life in order to appreciate the complex use of chords and melodies.
The first part struck me as very slow but the second part was very rhythmic,very perky, and was passed around appreciatively by all, while the piano and clarinet were trading ideas with each other. All in all, this piece signaled excitement and was made very enjoyable with the clarinet and piano. As this was my first Chamber Concert I was not sure what to expect. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and I'm looking forward to my next concert.
