Mormonism vs. Christianity How is Mormonism different from Christianity? Mormonism is so similar to Christianity that sometimes people think they took Christianity, renamed it to Mormonism, and started a “new religion”. Although many of the ideas of Mormonism come from Christianity, there are many differences in Mormonism. Differences occurred in the creation story, in sacred texts, in the ideas of God, views of humanity, and in ideas of death and the afterlife.
In the Mormons creation story, it is said that your life started before you were born. Humans lived this life as a spirit among God. The spirit life was the chance to determine who you were, what choices you would make, and what you would learn and become. Once you found who you were, God would send you to earth as a baby to live the rest of your life on earth until death. In Christianity your first life is being born on earth. …show more content…

The Mormons sacred text is the Book of Mormon; which is completely different from the Holy Bible (New Testament), although Mormons also follow the moralities from it. Mormonism takes many moral codes from the Bible such as the Ten Commandments. “Mormons also follow the “Word of Wisdom” (which they added on). Mormons who follow this law abstain them from alcohol, tobacco, tea, coffee, illegal drugs, and other harmful or addictive substances.
