The article states, “The Giver told him that it would be a very long time before he had the colors to keep.” (Document E) This proves that they have no color, I think that by taking away color there would be no happiness or imagination. Jonas starts loving Fiona but isn’t allowed and stops taking the pill. In Matched the officials choose their match but they can have their own children. Cassia is matched with Xander but also loves Ky and doesn't know what to do. In both story they all get jobs for the rest of their lives but in Matched they just call it vocations. Jonas gets the Receiver of memory and Cassia is supposed to be the sorter.
Lois Lowry describes a futuristic world with controlled climate, emotions, way of living and eliminates suffering in her book The Giver. The main character, Jonas, shows the reader what his world is like by explaining a very different world from what society knows today. Everything is controlled, and no one makes choices for themselves or knows of bad and hurtful memories. There is no color, and everything is dull. As he becomes the Receiver who has to know all the memories and pass them down to the next Receiver, he realizes his world needs change. He starts to believe that a world of sameness where no one can decide or make choices for themselves is boring. Lois Lowry is warning readers that living in a world of sameness is not something to create as it is boring and dull, but if the world follows conformity and does not value diversity and difference enough, society could become that of Jonas’s.
This community is not a usual everyday community. Here people don’t have to worry about poverty, crime, starvation and basically any typical world problems. Although, this community still has many problems. People still think this is a wonderful place to live but this community is a dystopia. In Mrs. Lowry’s book “The Giver” she explains how families function here as well as the both negative and positive point of views for family.

The book revolves around a young girl named Esperanza who feels out of place with the life she has. She sees that the things around her don’t really add up. The story is told from Esperanza’s perspective and the events she goes through to find herself. Through the strategy of fragmenting sentences, Cisneros establishes that the sense of not belonging, creates a person’s individuality that makes them who they are.

Although some people could argue that living in Elsewhere is better because of freedom of choice, speech, and overall independence for many things. In reality, though, Jonas’ community is the better one to be a part of because of the lack of racism, a good way to deal with population control, the lack of love and attraction, and the way of dealing with job choosing. “The giver” is written from the point of view of Jonas, an eleven-year-old boy living in a futuristic society that has eliminated all pain, fear, war, and hatred. There is no prejudice, because everyone looks and acts essentially the same and everyone is unmistakably polite. The society has also eliminated any form of choice: at the age of twelve every member of the community is assigned a job based on their abilities and interests. Marriage is also controlled, as citizens had to apply for compatible spouses. When their children are grown, family units disperse and adults live together with Childless Adults until they are too old to function in the society.
