The movie Alan and Naomi tells the story of Alan Silverman, a young jewish boy who lives in New York City, and Naomi Kirshenbaum, a French Jewish refugee from Nazi oppression. As the story opens, Alan is playing stickball with Shaun Kelly who is Alans best friend. As the boys return to their apartment, they meet Naomi in the hallway. Naomi is sitting in the hallway ripping paper, she reacts by screaming for her mom and hugging the wall. After eating supper with his parents, Alan is presented with an unusual request. The request his parents ask of him, is to go visit Naomi. At first, Alan denies and goes to his room slamming the door angrily. Alan’s father talks with him and persuades him by saying he’s one of the lucky ones, and says he will have an answer by the next day. Alan’s first visit with Naomi is a disaster. What happened was Alan began ripping paper in hopes to communicate with her but instead he scares her. Alan refuses to return, but Alan saw a movie on the Nazi’s which makes him return. She begins to tear strips of the wallpaper and continues to do so all night until morning yards of the paper are stripped off. Her sister-in-law Jennie offers to help, but at this point the narrator is territorially protective of the wallpaper. She locks herself in the room and is determined to strip the wall bare. As she is tearing the wallpaper apart she sees strangled heads in the pattern shrieking as the wallpaper is being torn off. At this point, she is furious and even contemplates jumping out the window, yet even in her euphoric state, she realizes this gesture could be misinterpreted.

Susie then observed her mother put her jacket on and Susie’s face turned from smiling to sad as she realized that her mother was going out. Molly had sat for Susie many times in the past month, and Susie had never reacted like this before. When Susie’s mother returned home, the sitter told her that Susie had cried until she knew that her mother had left and then they had a nice time playing with toys until she heard her mother’s key in the door. Islla was crying, and Leslie ask her “What happened?’ Why you crying?’”. Islla told her that she is pregnant and that she wants to keep the baby even if her boyfriend will be against the baby, but she will need to drop out from her University. In a few minutes of thinking, Leslie decided and told her sister “You don’t need to drop out I will help you to babysit with my nephew.”

Ever since she has been entrapped in her room, the narrator’s vivid imagination has crafted fictional explanations for the presence of inconsistencies in the wallpaper. She explains them by saying “The front pattern does move! And no wonder! The woman behind shakes it” (Gilman 9). In the story, the narrator explains the woman mentioned creeps in and about the old house she and her husband reside in. Venturing towards the conclusion, the narrator becomes hysterical when thinking about the wallpaper, explaining to her husband’s sister Jennie how she would very much like to tear the wallpaper down. Jennie offers to do it herself, but the narrator is persistent in her desire-”But I am here, and nobody touches that paper but me-not ALIVE”(Gilman 10)! She locks the door behind her and waits for several seconds starring in the darkness trying to hear any movements. Kelsey walks across the room with her pistol ready, finger on the trigger. Just as she gazes out the window watching flames arise on the horizon, spot light's beam the building causing the room to shine bright. Kelsey turns around and glimpses the Nazi Leader pointing a handgun at the pimple between her eyebrows. Kelsey lowers her pistol to the ground and holds her hands to the sky. The Nazi Leader speaks in some form of German which becomes inaudible for Kelsey to understand. Then a water droplet falls from Kelsey’s face and she begins to say a prayer. She speaks aloud to cause the leader to lose his focus on what he should be doing, killing her. Conversation comes up through the question of Kelsey asking the leader why he has started this movement once again. The leader replies “I chose to eliminate the weaker humans in our society. With those people gone, our community and world can develop to the next level.” Kelsey decides to yell at the leader while tears running down her face that the leader is wrong to think like that. She believes that everyone was put on this planet for a reason to contribute to society. And that the purpose of the jews might not be prevalent right now, but they will find their spot in society soon. As soon as the argument ceases and tension in the room intensifies, the family Kelsey saved in the woods barges through the door and open fires on the Nazi Leader. Multiple bullets slice through the leader’s body like tissue paper. His body collapses to the ground with a bang and silence strikes the room. Everyone looks around and checks themselves for unnoticeable bullet wounds that might not have stricken them. After all body parts are clean of bullet scratches, they all surround one another with tears of joy knowing
With nobody but herself at home, Ann strongly desires to talk to someone, and that someone who arrives at her house is Steven. Ann who has been feeling anxious and helpless while isolated suddenly feels relief when Steven comes as shown, “-and suddenly at the assurance of his touch and voice the fear that had been gripping her gave way to an hysteria of relief.” Steven helps comfort Ann, while Ann is being cautious of herself. She knows that Steven is enticing, but will not give in to him despite how attractive she finds him. Steven is the complete opposite of John and Ann compares John to Steven multiple times, “Steven’s smile, and therefore difficult to reprove. It lit up his lean, still-boyish face with a peculiar kind of arrogance: features and smile that were different from John’s.” and even favours Steven more than her husband. Ann is used to seeing John’s features but not Steven’s. This excites Ann and prompts her to develop feelings that are of a high school girls’, “She didn’t understand, but she knew. The texture of the moment was satisfyingly dreamlike.” It takes Ann a moment to realize that her object of temptation is right in front of her, and it does not take long for her to take the opportunity to ease her boredom and isolation through her upcoming
Princess stories tend to stray away from traditional hero stories in one aspect or another. The story of Tiana and her frog husband is no different.
Ann and John, two characters from he short story "The Painted Door", do not have a very healthy relationship. John is a simple farmer who thinks the only way he can please his wife, Ann, is by working all day to earn money for her. However Ann would prefer him to spend more time with her. Their relationship is stressed even further when Ann is left at home alone with nothing to think about but their relationship because John has to go to his father’s house. The terrible snowstorm accentuates Ann’s feelings of loneliness and despair. John does not pay enough attention to Ann, and therefore creates a weak relationship.
