The movie Alan and Naomi tells the story of Alan Silverman, a young jewish boy who lives in New York City, and Naomi Kirshenbaum, a French Jewish refugee from Nazi oppression. As the story opens, Alan is playing stickball with Shaun Kelly who is Alans best friend. As the boys return to their apartment, they meet Naomi in the hallway. Naomi is sitting in the hallway ripping paper, she reacts by screaming for her mom and hugging the wall. After eating supper with his parents, Alan is presented with an unusual request. The request his parents ask of him, is to go visit Naomi. At first, Alan denies and goes to his room slamming the door angrily. Alan’s father talks with him and persuades him by saying he’s one of the lucky ones, and says he will have an answer by the next day. Alan’s first visit with Naomi is a disaster. What happened was Alan began ripping paper in hopes to communicate with her but instead he scares her. Alan refuses to return, but Alan saw a movie on the Nazi’s which makes him return. During the second visit, Naomi still refuses to talk. In the evening, however, Naomi holds her doll up to the window. Naomi continues talking and is soon invited to Alan’s apartment for breakfast. During the breakfast visit Naomi plays with the planes hanging in Alan’s room. Naomi progresses to the point that Alan is allowed to take her to the airfield. While they are walking down the street and looking in store windows, Shaun Alan’s best friend spots them. Naomi tells Alan that she helped her father rip up maps of the sewers, so the german’s wouldn’t get them. When they return to the apartment, Alan meets up with Shaun.
