America wasn't always this great place of freedom. America was known to be free but not free as we see today. Today everyone is free, everyone is treated equally. But it never used to be like that everyone wasn't always treated equal and free as we see free today especially the blacks. Dr. Martin Luther King jr. was there to change that he was motivated to make a change and motivated to make America as free and equal as it is today. Dr. King tried to make that change and did make a change in many different ways. Two of his most powerful ways he made a change were through one of his famous speeches “I Have a Dream” and his famous letter “Letter From Birmingham Jail”. King's famous speech called “I Have a Dream”. He is speaking in Washington D.C not only to the audience of blacks and whites that were there but to every American tuning in to watch on tv. Dr. King was a Civil Rights Activist, this speech was important to him and many Americans. He wanted them to believe him and believe that a change needed to be made. He did that in an emotional pathos way. A pathos way to make people agree with him, to make sure people can relate. One very strong emotional quote was “little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls as brothers and sisters”( King pg.263). This was very strong and appealed to almost every American listening to this speech. It made people realize and want the change. As you can see this quote was very powerful and emotional but that's not the only quote from “I Have a Dream” that was used in a pathos way for example, King says “ You have been the veterans of creative suffering” ( King pg.262). This was also a very strong quote in King's famous speech and, it made people realize they are being treated wrong and that a change needs to be
