Our life experiences shape us. No individual suffers the exact same hardships nor achieves the exact same triumphs as any other. Yet, we all experience the human condition. How? The human condition is everything that goes on in a person's life. It's the constant cycle of decisions and consequences that make us human, make us each unique. The human condition can be described by talking about the growth, aspiration, and conflict a person experiences in life.
Every human undergoes growth throughout their time on earth. This growth that we experience makes it possible for us to move on and transition through the chapters of life that are thrown at us. In “College should be an Adventure” by John A. Roush we learn about how a college student should grow throughout his life and how he should adjust to change. One specific example of this in the text talks about a students relationship with their parents. “The college experience is supposed to be a crucial time for growing up and putting some distance between you and them.” For the majority of life until college, a child spends its time being babied by the parent. We must work through the hardships and keep living. “The Bravest- grope a little And sometimes hit a Tree” (Dickinson, 12). In life, we have many conflicts. We have to accept this as a part of life, a part of living. We have to overcome these problems and fight through these conflicts in order for life to move on. In “Actually, College Is Very Much Worth It” , Andrew J. Rotherham opens this piece addressing the issue of whether or not college is “worth it”. Rotherham effectively builds his case that college is essentially the better choice for us. Additionally, he acknowledges opposition of those who are anti-college. He allows us to have ‘free will” in the decision-making process, but presents the information in a way we cannot ignore the obvious facts. Rotherham conveys the idea that college does not guarantee a successful entry job, but it creates a path of opportunities for us.

Wartman and Savage, in Parental Involvement in Higher Education: Understanding the Relationship Among Students, Parents, and the Institution, share that parental involvement is especially important with the encouragement and support for their student’s choice to attend college, along with their tangible support such as providing a college fund for their student and joining the student for campus visits and other preparation events the institution may offer (59-60). Adversity plays such a big role in our lives that it's almost invisible. We don't realize that practically everyday we face it and set it up to determine who we are going to be. Sometimes people are given a really crappy deck of cards and don’t know how to handle them. When were in a difficult situation, or faced with adversity we have two choices. Battle through it and become an even greater individual because of it or succumb to the situation and give up. It it all depends on how much determination a person has to fight through the adversity and in turn, become a better person.
