On a Sunday morning, a conversation with my father changed everything. It was a normal conversation about different choices after completing class 12. During the course of the conversation, my father who is an engineer happened to mention that like many others he had never found his passion. This came as quite a shock but was also an eye opening experience for me. The better part of my school life was spent in small townships, which naturally had both its merits and demerits. Though it offered me safety and serenity, it deprived me of exposure to several options and opportunities. I enjoy playing the keyboard. I also like to swim and watching an occasional movie. However, reading is what really indulges me. I am thankful to my grandfather for reading to me from the Mahabharata and the Ramayana as well as my father who always encouraged me to read by buying me books of different genres. Reading gives me an avenue to delve into the unknown and develop different perceptions about worldly affairs.

Over the last year, I started contemplating about what I really want from my life after school. I have not been able to find a deep interest in any subject and was perplexed about what I should do. My conscience nagged at me to stop for a moment and to reconsider the direction of my life. I asked myself “Do I just want to get a degree and then get into a job and let life do the rest?” The answer that emerged from within was a resounding NO! I want my life to be meaningful and fascinating. I would like to explore different subjects, discover my passion and work towards it. In the process of this exploration, I hope to understand myself better. Ten years from now, I would prefer to look back at my life and be proud of the choices I
