The moment in time when I realized that I was never going to have a Father like the rest of my friends changed the course of my life. As a young boy it was difficult coming home after a baseball game where each of my friends dads were there to cheer them on. I was left with the Father that was incapable of working or even getting himself out of bed. My fathers illness showed me to never take life for granted because one day your life can be normal and another day you're best days have already past.
Everyone has a special event that determines our life journey. This event can give us identity, happiness or even pain and sadness. The special event that changed my life was deciding to play basketball because basketball helped me find peace, happiness and gave me identity. When I was ten years old my grandfather succumbed to cancer. His death created hatred inside of me.

After growing up, facing responsibilities, and becoming a father, I know that others wouldn’t understand the life I live now. Before my son, I had time to hang out all day and night around my neighborhood with my friends. Although I miss hanging out with no worries and responsibilities, I love being a father to my son. Growing up I considered Derrick as my brother although we weren’t related, we did everything together. I looked up to Derrick, he always had everything “under control”, even down to the girls he messed around with. However I wasn’t jealous; I was only proud of my brother, he was showing me how to be a responsible man, well at least I thought so.

I learned that in life there are responsibilities. I truly believe that had I not had a child at an early age, I would still be a wild absentminded party girl and who knows what else may have happened.
Some people, some great people deserve to live forever, or at least die in a worthy or in a fulfilling way. I just got the short end of the bargain, I just got one of the worst things on this earth, cancer. Anyone can get the disease, but the way I see it, it seems unfair and unruly that pure souls could end up with a painful and undeserving demise. Unfortunately, I was one of those pure souls.
He changed everything. My step dad is the best thing that ever happened to me. He’s the only dad that I have. When I was about 7 my biological father walked out of my life and I never seen him again. Without my step dad I would be going nowhere in my life. My life was starting to go down the drain before he came into my family and was my dad. My step dad is my hero and his name is Josh.
A baby changed my life. I was only 19 years old. My fiancé was 24 years old. We had recently gotten engaged and weeks later found out we were pregnant. I turned to my husband and said, "The thought of physically having a baby terrifies me." We were both so excited and nervous. My family was excited, but his parents didn’t really care. In my previous paper I wrote about how the event that changed my life the most was my brother being born. The fact that I am not very close to my family motivated me to write this essay on my brother. I hate family vacations, family fun night, eating dinner together, and other things that involve my family. I dread these family centered activities. There is, however, one member of my family that turns this dread into joy. The one member of my family that puts a smile on my face is my little brother.
At thirty-eight weeks pregnant, 2 a.m. bathroom runs were as common as breathing. I remember getting out of bed to relieve the pressure from my 6 pound baby girl pressing down on my bladder. Out of all nights, it had to be “dad’s night out” before the baby came. As I got up from flushing the toilet I noticed I kept leaking but I was sure it was not pee. My water was breaking! I quickly called my boyfriend and grandmother so they could drive me to the hospital. My baby girl was on her way!
My story begins when I was in the second grade. Times were good, and I was enjoying my childhood. On a certain Sunday I and my mom attended church, as we did on other Sunday’s. This time though my dad decided not to come with us because he said he was tired. So we were off on our own doing our regular Sunday activities.
There are countless events that have shaped my life that I have reflected about. There have been challenges and obstacles at times throughout my life that were difficult to overcome at times. Notwithstanding these roadblocks, I confronted them head on by motivating myself and knowing that I can do anything I am determined to achieve. In a way, the challenges that I struggled with have helped me figure out what truly interests me. Overcoming my toughest challenge, though, has helped me to realize what's genuinely important and what I want to do in the future.
An event that changed my life was the first year of middle school. I was around eleven or twelve at the time.
From a very young age, I realized that my dad was not completely my dad. His olive complexion, thick accent, and the fact that he showed up when I was around three years old were dead giveaways. This did not change my devotion of love for him, and I was not curious about any other father figure or the history of my birth until my grandmother showed me a picture of my ‘biological father’ and I became instantly curious. I was around ten years old.
One day night, it was a family time. So, all of my family were sat in the living room after dinner. On that night, my father told us about his life story. He told us about his childhood, his teenage life, how he met my mother and how they got married. All of my brothers and sister, we all sat next to my father and listen to him without a word. My father life story taught me a lot of lesson in my life. Also, he made me thankful about how my life now to compare with my father life. This is how my father life was began.
