The case we chose happened in Austin,Tx, this cold case is based in a yogurt shop where 4 young women were found dead. The names of these women are Amy Ayers, Jennifer Harbison, her sister Sarah, and Eliza Thomas. They were burned alive in the yogurt shop that was purposely set on fire. The investigation spanned nearly eight years, and although two suspects were convicted, both were released in 2009 due to lack of evidence. There are still at least 5 cold case officers still working on the case to find out who set the fire that killed 4 innocent women in the yogurt shop. There have been many horrific and disturbing murders in Illinois. There have also been gangs that have been born and destroyed in Illinois. Investigators found hair, blood ladened fingerprints on the toaster and the kitchen faucet which was left running. A bloody paring knife which was perceived to be the murder weapon was found in the waste basket. Mr. Water’s became a suspect because he lived next to the victim with his girlfriend, Brenda Marsh. He also worked at a local diner that Ms. Brow frequented and employee’s revealed that she had been known to keep large amounts of cash in her home.
The story in discussion is that of Meagan Grunwald since it was one for which various articles from different online sources were available due to the large controversy it had sparked a while ago. Meagan Grunwald, a teenager of seventeen was convicted in May 2015 on 11 counts, including aggravated murder, attempted murder, aggravated robbery and use of a controlled substance and was sentenced to 30 years to life with the possibility open for parole.(Associated Press, 2015) The girl had engaged in a 51 mile crime spree that left one sheriff 's deputy dead and another wounded with her 27 year old boyfriend Jose Angel Garcia-Jauregui who was killed in a shootout with police in the spree which included a driveway of a speeding car in a three county

Another interesting fact came out in this case regarding Johnson. During the investigation it was found out that Johnson had nickname called murder man. He did not deny these allegations that was his name on the street. Officers ask Johnson if he ever enter the premises of where the murder occur. Johnson confirm that he had enter the location of where the murder occurred. There was also men clothing located at the property implying further that Johnson may have murder the victims Heather Camp and Nicole Sartell. Ardentric Johnson did admit as well during the integration with officers that he had seen the victim Heather Camp previously before she was murder. Evidence also points out that Johnson may have locked up the second victim Nicole Sartell for 46 hours and force her to smoke crack cocaine. Sartell body was found in the closet few days after the first victim, Heather Camp body had appeared. The next question posed would be: why is this considered an unsolved murder mystery case? It is obvious Hodel is the killer, but he was never convicted of the crime by the court. Hodel remained a free man for several years after the murder. The evidence was too apparent to all of the world making it hard to say stay safe forever. Forced to leave the country, Hodel would no longer be able to be convicted of a crime. He was out of the Los Angeles Police Department’s hands, which made it much more peaceful to the public to not have a doctor who is a murderer running around town.
