Civic engagement is the backbone of many organizations. It brings people together working for the same cause of the organization. “Civic engagement means working to make a difference in the civic life of our communities and developing the combination of knowledge, skills, values, and motivation to make that difference” (What Is Civic Engagement?, n.d.). When people gather together because of an organization, a bond is made with the other members. Friendships are made so with others so being part of an organization does not feel like it is work.
