Cinderella is one of the most famous fairy tales among children and adults; and has been an ongoing legend for many centuries. It is a tale that has been told generation after generation and has developed slowly over the passage of time along with its characters. In fact, the story of Cinderella is so appealing that several different versions of the fairy tale have since appeared in various cultures, from the Native American version, "The Rough-Faced-Girl", to a Vietnamese version, "Tam and Cam." The different versions may be based on very distinct beliefs, but they all have one thing in common, that being that they all engage in the moral imagination that good always overcomes evil. That being said, each story still emphasizes on different aspects of spirituality, magic, miracles, and outcomes.

In the Vietnamese version of Tam and Cam, the aspect of spirituality can clearly be seen throughout the various incidents in the story. The constant appearance of "Buddha" reflects a strong religious influence. In the story, Buddha comes into view each time Tam appears to be in grief- "A Buddha who was sitting on the lotus in the sky heard her sobs and came down beside her" (pg 229), "The Buddha appeared by her side again" (pg230). Buddhism is a religion that has been practiced in Vietnam since the 12th century. ... The next difference in outcome can also be seen in the protagonist of the stories. In Tam and Cam, Tam got her husband back and was able to get revenge on her step mother and cousin. On the other hand, in The Algonquin Cinderella, Cinderella got the chance to become a beautiful woman and marry the man of her dreams. Despite the differences, they all have one thing in common: good will overcome evil.

The two variations of the Cinderella story contain somewhat similar moral guidance as the original but have different stories from what people usually expect. Each of them touches on different issues such as spiritual, magic, miracle and contain outcomes based on the culture and beliefs of its respective society. However, whatever version it might be, the story of Cinderella will continue to be an entertaining fairy tale which will benefit the generations to come.
