Christian Beliefs About the Sanctity of Human Life

The Sanctity of Human life promotes the belief that God gives the gift

of life and that human beings should not end it. Life is a gift that

has been given to us by God and that therefore it is sacred and cannot

be altered by anyone other than God. These views can be determined by

other factors such as compassion.

Some people believe that human life is to be respected above all other

forms of life. Regarding human life as sacred means, it is to be

treated as holy and so everything should be done to preserve it. In

the Catechism of the Catholic Church 2258, it clearly states that ‘no

one can claim for himself the right directly to destroy an innocent

human being.’ This means that under no circumstances can be a person

allowed to take an innocent person’s life. They believe that God

sanctified life by becoming human, and the way that Jesus suffered

without attempting to do anything to cut short his sufferings shows

that life is not to be ended except when God decides.

bible. In 1 Samuel 2:6 “The Lord brings earth and makes alive; he

brings down to the grave and raises up.” it tells us that it is God’s

belief stated here is that God is in control of the end of our lives

conception or at birth and in Lk 1:43-44 “as soon as the round of your

greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped with joy” this

tells us that the baby is living. Modern science tells us that a baby

in its womb can hear very well and so have some of the characteristics

of a human. It tells us that life begins at conception and not when
