Emotionally sexting can take a ring on a person, especially if it go wrong and gets into the wrong hands. Teens have a single ability to feel like they 're invincible. So, although they may know that sexting is wrong, they don 't think they are going to get jammed up. Another emotional catch is that sexting may lead to harassment for the teen whose photographs have been showed to others. This makes a tough world for a teen to live in. Oftentimes they do not reach out for assistance because of humiliation and regret. They also fear of making it worse, or fear of getting into trouble. The expansion of the Internet infrastructure across the world, has brought an increased audience. Which has provided expanded markets for businesses and exploited new opportunities. There are virtually countless social sites and media used by individuals to access and share experiences , content, insights, and perspectives. Parents today tend to believe they should spy on their kids online activity. I argue parents should respect the privacy of a child's social life and his/her internet activity.
As it was mentioned in the article, “Let kids Run Wild Online”, kids want to have freedom and a place place where they can have some privacy, a place where they can explore the world and themselves without their parents haunting them. Now, we don’t see as many kids in the streets due to the dangers they can encounter. Therefore, teens use internet to have some freedom and some time for themselves. Now days, parents concentrate a lot of their attention in their kids which is completely understandable considering their concern about their kids’ safety. Although, I agree that parents need to give their kids their space in the internet considering that the internet is now an important source of freedom and sometimes the only source of freedom for teenagers. Over protective parents also harm their kids by not letting them learn from their mistakes, kids are not developing the skills to confront the struggles of the world, and kids won’t really know what their personality without their parents watching them all the time. The best way parents can help their children is not by motoring what they do in the internet but by having good communication with their kids and by teaching them values and morals because their kids will encounter dangers wherever they go and parents can’t be with them all the time. Therefore, parents must teach their kids what to do in a situation of danger or even how to avoid those situations.
Online predators, pornography, drug trafficking, piracy, and hate sites are just some of the dangers that a child can face on the internet. The article “The Undercover Parent” by Harlan Coben states that parents should use spyware to monitor their children. Coben argues that parents should be able to know what is in their children’s lives. he believes that spyware can prevent children from being targeted by internet predators on social networking sites and even prevent children from being cyber bullied. I agree with Coben’s claim that parents should consider using spyware as a protection for their teens online. There are many possible dangers facing children on the internet and it is essential that parents install spyware.

There are so many things that I have never found really interesting to me or at least something that could make me want to try and change it. I still don’t understand why people want to hurt kids. This is not something that should be a norm in our culture, but it is. This should be changed instead of just letting it happen sure it is going to be hard to charge, but there are still things that we can do to help kids that have gone through it and their parents. It also does depend on who abused them then they can go to jail. There are still things that we do not have a real understanding as to what sexual abuse is in general. It is not a well-known topic unless some has been abused. We assume that the victim is to blame them for what happened to them, but it is not their fault. We blame people because we do not want to see the perpetrator as the one who should be in trouble. In this case we do not have the knowledge as to what sexual abuse really is. When teens are engaging in sexting, they are not thinking of the possible criminal charges they can face. Sexting among teens is a common issue that we face today in our highly technological world. Laws are not able to keep up with the rate of technology advancements. Teacher, parents, and Louisiana law makers need to be more aware of this issue to try and protect teens from endangering themselves and their future.

Cyber bullying and online crime must be put at a stop. Parents and teachers should play a great role in regulating what their kids are doing on social media. Parents give their children smart phones, tablets, and computers but they fail to convey the proper way of using those tools. They should teach them the rules of being on social media by telling them from right to wrong. Parents don’t give their children a car to use without telling them the proper rules of how to drive the car. If they don’t teach them how to drive the car then that child wouldn’t know what to do about his or her car and may lead to an accident. This is the same way of how parents should also teach their kids of how to regulate on social media. With the lack of parental supervision between the ages of fourteen to seventeen, which makes one of largest demographics using social networking sites, these teens could be subjected to mature elements.
