Charles was born on June 20, 1947 in Cannelton, Indiana. The first home that he remembers living in was a two-bedroom log cabin with his mom, dad, and three sisters. He specifically remembers that the house had a wood burning stove and how his family did not have an icebox. Instead, they kept the items that they needed to refrigerate in a water pump hole to keep them cold. His parents were tobacco sharecroppers, so his family moved around a lot. He went to first grade in Cynthiana, Indiana, and then his family moved to Calhoun, Kentucky where he finished the rest of elementary school. Then, his family moved to Louisville, Kentucky where he went to middle school. His first real job as a teenager was baling hay where he made two dollars per day. Once he quit this job, he decided to enlist in the military with one of his friends because he assumed that he would be drafted. During his service, he was an engineer. He recalls moving around through Kansas and Missouri where he built bridges and trained to be a marksman in case he ever got called into war. Charles was in the military for a total of three years, but when he went home on leave he decided that he was not going back. The next chapter introduced the reader to the condition of politics in the South. The chapter described the voting process in Copiah and involved individuals being threatened or murdered if they were suspected to vote against Democrats. Charles Cullen was born on February 22, 1960, in West Orange, New Jersey. He was the youngest of eight siblings. His father worked as a bus driver, and died at age 58 when Cullen was only seven months old. Two of his siblings also died in adulthood. His mother was a stay at home mom who raised the eight children. Charles Cullen described his life as miserable, he attempted suicide at age nine by drinking chemicals he got out of a chemistry set, he attempted suicide a total of twenty times throughout his life. On December 6, 1977, when Cullen was 17 years old his mother died in a car accident, while his sister was behind the wheel. He was then drafted into the U.S. Army where he was refused admission to the Officer Candidate School. He fought this until he was finally accepted and graduated as a first lieutenant. He was in the Army from 1941 until 1944 and was stationed in Kansas and Fort Hood, Texas. While stationed in Kansas he worked with a boxer named Joe Louis in order to fight unfair treatment towards African-Americans in the military and when training in Fort Hood, Texas he refused to go to the back of the public bus and was court-martialed for insubordination. Because of this he never made it to Europe with his unit and in 1944 he received an honorable discharge.
Oedipus as the Hero Archetype. The character Oedipus in Sophocles' Oedipus the King follows a literary pattern known as the hero archetype. The hero archetype is a pattern involved in transformation and redemption. Manifested in three stages called the quest, the initiation, and the sacrifice, Oedipus is transformed from the redeemer of the city to the cause of its downfall.
At this time, Jake Hoover worked as a local hunter and was an experienced mountain man. When Hoover and Charlie met, they immediately realised they had an instant connection. They decided to share a cabin on the South Fork of Judith River. Hoover became Charlie's mentor and friend, he taught him about the Native American culture, survival in the West and much more. Charlie Parker’s parents were Charles and Addie Parker. His father was an African American stage entertainer, pianist, and dancer while his mother, Addie, worked nights at the local Western-Union office. When Charlie was seven, his family moved to Kansas City Missouri. Jazz, Blues, and Gospel music was very popular at that time in Kansas City, and Charlie began to realize that he had a musical talent so he started taking musical lessons at the public school. He also started playing in the band at school and played the baritone horn for a school play. At times, he would play the saxophone in local clubs nearby. Around this time, his father abandoned their family and later that year Charlie dropped out of school to pursue a full time music career.
Spanning a period of thirty years, Sophocles produced three plays all with similar thematic qualities. One such production features "a noble man who seeks knowledge that in the end destroys him" (70). Although, the Athenian audience was familiar with the original narrative of Oedipus Rex, spectators still found joy in watching the play unfold before them. In the play, Sophocles demonstrates to the audience through the main character that blindness is not necessarily limited to physical blindness, but can equally afflict intellectually capabilities. Such as, he contrasts Teiresias literal loss of sight with Oedipus' metaphorical vision. Sophocles uses physical and symbolic blindness as a reoccurring concept in order to emphasize Oedipus' evolution as a character.

A person who has done this more then once is Oedipus in the writer Sophocles plays. Sophocles uses imagery like light verses darkness, knowledge verses ignorance and sight verses blindness.

From the beginning, it is not a secret that Oedipus has lived an incredibly tragic life. He has suffered greatly as a baby, but he was brought up in a rather lavish lifestyle provided by King Polybus of Corinth, his (unknown to him) foster father. His life has been the ideal of many but this fortune of him did not last long. The conclusion of fleeing Corinth upon hearing the prophecy, killing civilians during his journey and whom to marry is all his alone. The oracle in Delphi prophesized his downfall, but his entire life is still based on his own decisions and faults. There is no one else to blame in his misfortunes but his judgements and narcissistic demeanor.
Here is a story where Oedipus the King, who has accomplished great things in his life, discovers that the gods were only playing with him. He has everything a man of that time could want; he is king of Thebes, he has a wonderful wife and children, and great fame through out the lands. He has lived a good life, but in the end everything is taken from him.
According to Aristotle's theory of tragedy and his definition of the central character, Oedipus the hero of Sophocles is considered a classical model of the tragic hero. The tragic hero of a tragedy is essential element to arouse pity and fear of the audience to achieve the emotional purgation or catharathis. Therefore, this character must have some features or characteristics this state of purgation. In fact, Oedipus as a character has all the features of the tragic hero as demanded by Aristotle.
