Imagine you are a Vietnamese citizen living life in middle of a war between your home country and the Communists. Outside your house you hear a raging war gunshot and scream. You start packing your stuff and start planning to head out on a boat to a refugee camp in America. In the book Inside and Back Again a 10 year old Vietnamese girl and her brothers along with their mother must leave their country because of the attacks due to the war. This challenge had many hardships and Ha along with her family had to go through a lot. In Ha’s life it was turned inside out when she fled from Saigon to a whole new life in America. One example on Ha’s life being turned inside out is that Ha regrets having her doll as soon as she got on the boat to America. This explains how her life turned inside out because when her valued item was gone she was very sad. This is because that valued item represented good and old memories in Saigon and they were just thrown out to sea. This is why Ha regrets losing her old memories of her home in Saigon. One example is that kids that were refugees were a country with a war happening and had to flee that country. Emir was one of the 4 kids that talked about his experience in his country. He compares his new life to his old life. He explains that his life was not as good as it was now. He also says he lived under Communism for a long time. He also states that he was tried to be killed. A final example of how the refugees come back again is that refugees are taken to refugee centers where they receive resources and shelter. Also medical care if needed. Some live there for a couple months. The refugees are cared for. Without these people refugees would be hopeless and a very little survival rate. This shows how refugees live come back
