The Catholic Social Teachings and Papal Statements that are applicable to the issue of human trafficking and slavery include:  Dignity of the human person and Christianity and Social Progress (1961): This teaching and Papal Statement tries to convey the message that all human beings are creations of God and therefore, are all born with dignity. Preferential care should be shown to the poor and vulnerable, whose needs and rights should be given special attention to. The Papal Statement aims to tell individuals to keep in mind to service of the poor, human dignity and social justice. Some people who are trafficked and enslaved are forced into working for certain employers because they have no other ways to survive. They may have been affected by natural disasters which could have caused them to live on the streets. There should be more advertisements to spread the extent of this issue so that the public can see the brutal reality of the people who make our clothes, our technological products and other essentials. Once people are informed, as a nation I believe we should do something to prevent people from being trafficked and enslaved. As a result of my learning, I will now aim to purchase free-trade products that are produced under standards designed to end and prevent poverty, sweatshop labour conditions, and environmental degradation. By purchasing these products, profits are not put above people and the planet. Before buying any products, I will search the brand beforehand to see if it an ethical brand to purchase from. Furthermore, I will also aim to support and donate to organisations who assist whose who are trafficked and enslaved. I believe that once everyone has made the small steps to prevent this increasing issue, we will be able to stop human trafficking and slavery from happening to those in desperation and
