It was two o'clock in the morning, a shrill scream along with the sound of shattering glass echoed through the hallway, fragments of broken glass glimmered against the dark wooden floor of the girl’s bedroom. In the middle of the broken glass was a brick with the words We know who you are on one side and You don’t belong here written across the other side with black marker.
“Cate! Are you okay?” A tall woman with short brown hair rushed into the room, tightly wrapping her arms around the young girl.
“I just don’t understand what the hell’s wrong with me mom!” Cate said as she raised her shaking hands to her face, wiping away the tears that were rolling down her flushed cheeks.
“Nothing is wrong with you sweetie; don’t listen to them,” her

The police officer made his way over to the couple.
“I’m also sorry to let you know, we currently don’t know who the is responsible for all of this,” the officer said.

After months of investigating and searching the cops finally found the man responsible. It was another one of the protestors against clones being free in the world. They had been aiming for Cate, but Caleb had blocked their shot, resulting in his death.
The man was found guilty of murder and sentenced life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Cate and her mother kept the close relations they had with Caleb’s family, even after his death and funeral.
Cate and all the other clones are still free in the world, and have gained much more support after the story of Caleb’s death reached the
The night was tempestuous and my emotions were subtle, like the flame upon a torch. They blew out at the same time that my sense of tranquility dispersed, as if the winds had simply come and gone. The shrill scream of a young girl ricocheted off the walls and for a few brief seconds, it was the only sound that I could hear. It was then that the waves of turmoil commenced to crash upon me. It seemed as though every last one of my senses were succumbed to disperse from my reach completely. As everything blurred, I could just barely make out the slam of a door from somewhere alongside me and soon, the only thing that was left in its place was an ominous silence.
Caleb, the father, constantly manipulates to his own advantage. One may think Caleb was a superficial character who speaks softly in a cruel manner. Throughout the book if he feels one of his children have disrespected him he will quietly tell his wife. This sets up manipulation as the children have learnt early on if the do not behave their mother will fall more of a victim to their father. Any decision that is made comes from him. He keeps his children close to the homestead in fear of them running off and he needs them to keep the farm running. His thought would be he would rather have free labour from his children then have to pay for farm hands. He

Caleb did reveal that they will not be living plural marriage. He said, "We are not living a plural marriage. We support Maddie's family with their choice of living plural marriage, and they support us with our choice in just marrying each other." It will be interesting to see how many of the Brown children of Sister Wives end up deciding to live the plural lifestyle.

Finally Mary Rowlandson was forced to leave the burning house. Immediately she saw her brother-in-law fall, dead from wounds; her nephew, whose leg was broken, killed, and her sister shot. All around her was carnage. She was shot through her side and the child she carried in her arms was struck by the same bullet. There were 13 killed and 24 taken captive. According to Mary Rowlandson's account,
In today’s society not many people realize that they are thankful to wake up and live another day. Just imagine being lost at night in an area you are completely unfamiliar with. Imagine it being cold, and you having no clothing. You don’t have any money and you are starving. Now, all your ears hear are the screams of the one’s around you being killed. To add to the torture, you are unable to control your next move, nor the next. There is constant death, starvation, and suffering happening all around you, but you cannot do anything to help the situation besides fending for yourself to survive. This is the devastating and cruel world that Chanrithy Him’s When Broken Glass Floats introduces to its readers.

“At this time in my life I lived in a very old town house, where I often heard unexplainable noises in the attic. One night, when I was about 11, my parents went out to a party, leaving me all alone. The night was stormy, with crashes of lightening and thunder outside. Having nothing to do, I fell asleep after eating too much ice cream. All of a sudden, my alarm clock goes off in the middle of the night, reading 3 o’clock. I’m wondering why ...

It is commonly believed that the only way to overcome difficult situations is by taking initiative in making a positive change, although this is not always the case. The theme of the memoir the Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls is that the changes made in children’s lives when living under desperate circumstances do not always yield positive results. In the book, Jeannette desperately tries to improve her life and her family’s life as a child, but she is unable to do so despite her best efforts. This theme is portrayed through three significant literary devices in the book: irony, symbolism and allusion.
11:14 p.m.-I slowly ascend from my small wooden chair, and throw another blank sheet of paper on the already covered desk as I make my way to the door. Almost instantaneously I feel wiped of all energy and for a brief second that small bed, which I often complain of, looks homey and very welcoming. I shrug off the tiredness and sluggishly drag my feet behind me those few brief steps. Eyes blurry from weariness, I focus on a now bare area of my door which had previously been covered by a picture of something that was once funny or memorable, but now I can't seem to remember what it was. Either way, it's gone now and with pathetic intentions of finishing my homework I go to close the door. I take a peek down the hall just to assure myself one final time that there is nothing I would rather be doing and when there is nothing worth investigating, aside from a few laughs a couple rooms down, I continue to shut the door.
