According to Bucher, R. D., In many instances, diversity issues are dealt with superficially or treated as an afterthought. One common assumption is that people will learn about diversity “on the side” or “on their own.” Unfortunately, we may interpret this to mean that diversity is not central to our education or our success (2014). This is very interesting because Brandman University has identified diversity consciousness education as an important subject in order to earn our undergraduate degrees.

Benjamin Carson, it is a mistake to think that someone else’s problems or struggles do not reflect on us” Bucher (2014, p. 27). When I initially took this course, I believed that issues in other parts of the world should not be our concern and clearly remember thinking about North Korea and the Kim Jung-un dictatorship being terrible but an issue for North Korea and South Korea citizens to resolve between each other. The issue here is the lack of American citizen insolvent has not elucidated the issues and potential for this country to become a serious destabilizer of the world not just that region. It may be that we should allowed Kim Jung-un to save face and negotiated a lift of the embargos and financial support for the North Korean people and instead we have created a dictator that must save face by proving himself. This week the North Korean leader will test a high range rocket that is purportedly designed for satellite delivery into space but we are now worried that one day the satellites may be replaced with nuclear warheads potentially reaching our country and this would definitely destabilize this …show more content…

27). Diversity education would have saved us from the situations mentioned earlier and as a business person it is imperative for success. Developing diversity skills will be my goal for the remainder of this class and will be my goal for the remainder of my life and hope to instill the value of these to my children. Since I am a manager and a caring father and responsible member of my community, I value and will continue to work on my leadership skills including educating myself regarding other customs and specially my team members’ cultures. I plan to do so by learning to not expect everyone to participate in a standard way, rather allow people to bloom and be successful following their customs and at the same time facilitating their individual success by not standardizing my leadership style, exchanging ideas, improve my listening and body language reading skills as well as improving my style of communicating my goals and points.
Social networking is an excellent vehicle for cultural diversity awareness and sharing one’s culture and cultural values as well as culinary diversity. I plan on participating more in afterhours networking groups and to not only absorb information but be able to contribute and help these groups with my experiences. Social networking will also allow me to bring more business to my employers, if members of these groups see
