The first passage expands upon a standpoint in which the author believes people should be able to bring their dogs to work. Based on the studies the author did, he or she discovered that people feel less stress and anxiety when they interact with their dogs, and feel as though this would help to reduce the stress people typically feel in a work environment. The author thinks that if the employees feel happy and relaxed, they will be more productive. The first passage also states that if employees brought their dogs to work with them, they might be more willing to work longer hours. The pet owners would feel at ease knowing their animals are being cared for. The second passage explains another point of view. Although the author admires the desire to improve the workplace, he or she does not feel bringing dogs to work would be a good way to make that happen. If people could bring their dogs to work, many issues would arise, such as allergies, unfortunate past experiences with dogs, bacteria, and the chance of dogs misbehaving in a new environment. The author believes there are too many likely problems, and that dogs should be left at home to play outside. He or she thinks the overall productivity in the workplaces would be at stake, the work enrivonment would become more stressful, and at any given time a dog could damage office property or harm a fellow employee. If I had to choose a side between the two arguments, I would say to leave your dog at home. Although I understand why people might think it would be beneficial to the work environment, overall I feel like it would do more harm than good. I do think dogs relieve stress, but there are many other ways to achieve a peaceful
