The primary benefit of BYOD is that it will save money for organizations if they allow their employees to use their own personal devices that are frequently up to date on the newest technology. Organizations wouldn’t have to spend a lot of money on new technology because the technology used by organizations becomes outdated over a period of time (Wiech, 2013). End users will be more comfortable and satisfy if they use their own personal device instead of using a device that is provided to them by the organization they work for (Wiech, 2013). This will cause end users overall working experience to be more productive and efficient because they are familiar with using their own personal devices.
The benefits of BYOD may be great for companies, but there are also risks that surround it as well. The first major risk is that BYOD makes it easier for untrustworthy employees to steal a company’s information because they own the device they used to do it.
