The most valuable and unique capabilities and resources of the company include a plethora of items with the most important including patents, copyrights, trade secrets, patents, and human capital. Bridgestone USA has been able to be profitable due to their competitive advantage in the market which has afforded them the ability to increase their employee base, increase their R&D department to develop a new product or to come up with innovative ideas to improve the existing products. Hence, the employees that a company employs is the most valuable resource that any company has and is very difficult to be copied by competitors (Vosloban, 2013). If the product doesn’t reach the customer on time then the customer would be unhappy, company would lose money and the company could lose their competitive advantage because customers would look to other brands that could deliver on time. Although the plant employees are a crucial asset to the company they also pose a great risk. They must be dependable as when someone is out it can place a strain or even shut down part of the process which slows down production. Thoroughly trained employees reduce the risk of defective products getting to the customer and reduces workplace injury. Offering a solid training program provides constant improvement of personnel to achieve the goals set by a company (Bercu, 2017). By offering a comprehensive training program it increases production, innovation, more engaged and are less likely to leave the company. Producing defective products can be detrimental to the company as before when there was a tire recall that affected mostly Ford vehicles resulting in several accidents and sadly some deaths. That incident cost the company billions of dollars and lost the confidence of millions of customers who turned to competitors (Michelin and Goodyear) to purchase their tires. The company increased training with plant personnel, developed a whistle-blowing hotline for employees to report possible defects, and
