In today’s media there has been an upheaval of ridiculous beauty standards put on for women. With platforms like Facebook and Instagram the ideal body is exposed to young girls which can lead them self conscious. While many beauty standards emphasize natural beauty, many top beauty companies are able to shove what they procive has the “beautiful women”. These unrealistic beauty standards need to be put to an end because their ideal women can cause women health problems from the media outlets that push these standards out. In the age of Facebook and Instagram, more and more young girls and women are thrust into the spotlight of society scrutiny when it comes to their looks. In her article, “Breaking Down the Media’s Distorted Views on Beauty”, Katie Atkinson puts it as “[...] girls should walk and talk pretty, have perfect skin, and cake on makeup; they should watch their weight and keep up with the newest trends in fashion” which are inconspicuously put out on these sites where young teen girls are at their most …show more content…

Many new small brands are issuing natural beauty as their campaign method to get consumers in with their product. On the other hand, those companies can push out their version of natural beauty and the cycle keeps going. Yet any one company who tries to explain natural beauty ever has it right because “[...]the simple fact is that most of us just don’t” know what true beauty is and can be unique to each and every girl (Atkenson). Basically, young girls find their false natural beauty in magazine advertisements and since not one magazine company is the same, causing a constituent competition with each and every girl. Moreover, with the competition between girls, it leads to a pressure and eventually health issues with some girls trying to reach this unimaginable beauty
