Have you ever wondered what happens when a book is banned? Well, Book Banning is when a book or a part of the book is banned by the government or another authority because of it's inappropriate or harsh content. In most cases, when a book is banned it is burned, but, sometimes the book is taken away from all libraries and put away in a box or so ("Book Banning"). Anyone could ban any book at any time, and people take the advantage of it. As soon as someone sees something inappropriate, they put a case on it. Books should not be banned because the reader should have the option to choose if they want to read a certain book, books are banned for unnecessary reasons, and libraries need more books. Some people think that whenever writing is in all caps or a quote is too long, it's something harsh and they put a case on the book. If something is written in all caps, it doesn't mean that it is harsh and it's not necessary to put a case on it. The book might be showing that a character is angry or so. A lot of people argue on the reasons books are banned, so, the American Library Association hosted a "banned books week". In that week, some libraries tell about all the reasons each book is banned. Around 57% of these books are banned for unnecessary reasons and these books could've been used right now (Manning, Erin. "Parents Must Protect Children from Offensive Material in Books"). Therefore, books shouldn't be banned, especially for unnecessary reasons. Lastly, books should not be banned because libraries need more books ("Parents Must Protect Children from Offensive Material in Books"). A lot of parents think that school libraries are banning good books that could be used for their child's/children's study, which impacts other libraries and its books. Public libraries have a decrease in books since 1920 by 46%. With this decrease, many other schools had a scarce of books as well as incomplete projects, which doesn't influence good grades.
