For this essay, I have chosen a Warner Bros production film called `Blade'. In this essay I will discuss the Mise-En-Scene, Sound, Editing, Special effects, camera angle, shot, movement and position.

The Film, as I have stated before is from Warner Bros productions. Basically the Film is about a man who is a vampire hunter. He detests vampires because before he was born his mother was bitten by a vampire. She was rushed to the hospital her water broke and she gave birth to Blade. Unfortunately while she was giving birth she died shortly after.

After that day Blade had decided to make it his mission in life to extinguish vampires from the face of the earth. While he was on his mission he discovered a man (whistler) who wanted the same thing as himself so they teamed up and set out together to erase the vampire race...

Scene one shows a vampire pretending to be a prostitute who is taking her client to a secret location. In this scene the lighting is very dim and low key. The background is blurred and the only thing which is visible to the audience eye are the two characters. There is low rock music on in the background to create a sexy and almost seductive atmosphere.

This is also evident in the way the two characters are talking to each other. She is playing with him and making physical contact with him to get him aroused.

All of a sudden the scene is edited so it appears short. They move to the next scene were they show the client being taken to the secret location. When he is there he is astonished when he sees the dead meat hanging. He then starts to question the prostitute, "Were we going". She replies in a very casual way, "To the secret location baby".

...isseminating enough information and meaning from the script to make his piece coherent. Before a director has committed a single shot to celluloid he has already made vital choices which will affect the way his film is viewed by the audience.

One of the first considerations a film maker has to decide upon is the camera and film stock he will use. The choice of film stock has many artistic implications, since it dictates the texture, colour and shape of a film.

I also believe the film `Blade' is a visceral film and should only be viewed by men not by women which I strongly advice. It is full of violence, killing, action and adventure.

Women are quiet judgemental so I think even before watching the film if they see the poster they would be put off viewing the film. As the poster and name of the film would portray pictures of what the film would be like.
