Black Orpheus was a tale about two people that had true love at the first meeting. Orpheus is a fellow that was engaged to a woman, Mira. In the beginning of the movie, Orpheus and Mira go to the courthouse to schedule their wedding. The clerk ask their names when he finds out that the man name is Orpheus he assumes the woman’s name is Eurydice. Mira becomes enraged with Orpheus and assumes he is cheating with another woman. The clerk apologizes while laughing and explains to the woman there is a love story about Orpheus and Eurydice being soul mates. In the story even death could not keep them apart. Leading up to carnival, Orpheus is walking through the town but it appears he is trying to run away from Mira. In the midst of running he meets Eurydice and they have true love at first site. Everyone in the town notices their true love. Orpheus invites Eurydice to Carnival to see him perform. She happily accepts. Serafina helps Eurydice get dress for Carnival. At Carnival everyone is partying by dancing and singing. Mira notices there is a difference in Orpheus and she wants to know who the other woman is. Orpheus and Eurydice dance together. He is so into her that no one else around matters. Eurydice notices the same man she was running from. He is dressed as a skeleton and his face is covered by a skeletal mask. He represents death and is coming to get Eurydice. There is no clear reason why death is after Eurydice. Eurydice begins to run. Orpheus follows her and saves her. Death states you saved her now but she will be mine eventually. This continues until Eurydice was electrocuted and died. She is taken to the morgue. Orpheus still searches for her and eventually finds her. He takes her body and carries her back to the village. When he gets her to the village, it’s on fire and Mira sees
