With candidates like Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, the presidential election taking place in 2016 is not only a headache to follow, but is also relatively scary. Donald Trump alone seems to want a genocide to take place in the United States and uses fear, anger, and hate to drive his political campaign. However, Bernie Sanders is the only candidate that seems to be taking the millennial generation into consideration and giving us hope for a better future. This election will be the first presidential election I can vote in; and for more reasons than just higher minimum wage, free healthcare, and free college, my vote is surely going to Senator Sanders. In America, wealth is controlled by a tiny handful of individuals who make up the 1% of Americans that became millionaires and billionaires because of the Bush tax exemptions. Howe and Strauss define the millennial generation as anyone born between 1982 and 2004. In other words the millennial generation has inherited all of the problems created by generation before us, all while dealing with the current problems and trying to create a better generation to come after us. The millennial generation all together has a rough reputation because we apparently represent entitlement and narcissism, however Bernie is the only candidate trying to bring out the best in us and giving us courage to step up and stand up for what we believe. Millennials are referred to as the most ethnically diverse generation, and for that reason we tend to tolerate difference. Bernie Sanders seems to be the only candidate that is not racist, believes women are people too, and thinks young people have potential. As millennials we were raised under the “follow your dreams” belief and Bernie Sanders has a vision that will allow each and every one of us who chooses to accomplish their goals to do just that
