An apple a day keeps the doctors away. Is that cliché really that far off? Actually, no; that statement holds truth. Everybody knows the importance of fruit as a part of a well-balanced diet, but most people do not know just how good fruit is for health. Not only does fruit aid in good physical health, but it also provides benefits for good mental health.
I could fix a cup of my favorite fruits which is pineapples and strawberries, I should also make sure that the fruits are fresh and do not have any added sugars or preservatives. It would also be helpful if I slowly take the unhealthy foods out of my diet and replace them with the nutrient- rich foods, because I feel if I just completely change my diet from what I am used to I will be harder to do. I also need to add vegetables to my diet because I rarely eat vegetables. Ways that I can add vegetables to my diet is by steaming them, grilling them or baking them. Or when I go to restaurants instead of getting my usual French fries with my meal I could instead get a side of broccoli, corn or steamed vegetables.
Many people believe that they can remove excess pesticides by merely washing their produce before consuming it, yet that is simply not the case. One may wash their produce to their hearts content, but when the poisons of pesticides are already harbored within, there is no way to remove them. Going back to the example of an apple, as it continues to grow the pesticides will stay within and also, slightly alleviate the need for more. When it comes time to harvest the apples, orchards will send them off to be cleaned and then to the stores or to a processor to become apple juice. With the pesticides still inside of the apples, even apple juice will contain the chemicals and can be harmful to the consumer.
