Before The Baptism
“You will be reborn in the eyes of the Lord,” Brother Flores said. This is an example of a beautiful transformation. Not to long ago a Reserved Officer Trainer Corps also known as a high school student had decided to get baptized in a Seventh Day Adventist church. I comprehend that many souls are being lead to God to be saved but many people who don’t understand the word of God are not ready for the change. One Saturday morning I was getting ready to go to church as I was brushing my hair I overheard my aunt say how the high school student was too young to get baptized. People do not understand how age has nothing to do with what a person wants to do for God, age is sometimes used in misleading cases. It is Saturday morning …show more content…

The mother looked like she was in her mid 30’s, the grandmother was probably in her early 50’s, and the son was a teenager. I walked into the kitchen to get a cup of water as they stood in the dining area the boy is looking at the invitation card, “Mom, isn’t he too young to get baptized? He’s going to miss out on partying, and having fun on Saturdays?” he looked at his mom with a worried face. I noticed she didn’t pay attention to him as she was engaged in a conversation with her own mother. As I walked into the restroom to wipe off my tears, my super mom comes out of one of the bathroom stalls and I told her what I had heard, “Stop worrying and pray for them, God knows their hearts.” Her words of comfort filled my soul with joy, I smiled and hugged her. In the back of my mind my thoughts were pouring out to why people would judge those who want to get baptized and follow God and compare it to missing out on the things this world offers. Anybody from all different ages can follow God for example, David from the book 1 Samuel, chapter 17 in the Bible was a teenage boy who worshipped and followed God. And what I think the word “living” means is found in the book of Matthew in the Bible chapter 16 verse 24 “Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow

Questions of when does a follower of Christ actually receive God’s Spirit have been in dispute and scrutinized with very different understandings of the scriptural references to this splendid transformation that takes places in the life of a Christian. In both the Old and New Testaments, The Holy Spirit is a constant person that works in and amongst God’s people. In Numbers 11:24-25, the Spirit of God is displayed when “the Spirit rested on them”, referring to the seventy elders that were appointed to aid Moses. 1 Samuel 16:13 states that the mysterious Spirit of God rushed upon David during his coronation as the King of Israel. In Joel 2:28, the Spirit is promised by the prophet. “And it shall come to pass, afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions.” These are only a few of the references that appear in the Old Testament to the Spirit of God, but there is a very active present of the Spirit of God. John Stott writes, “In the Old Testament days, although all believers were indeed regenerate, the Holy Spirit came upon special people for special ministries at special times.” The differences in the Old and New Testament inner workings of the Spirit seems to be for temporary appointment in the Old Testament and permanent indwelling in the New Testament.
